I've been thinking about an ATV trailer for some time. I picked up wheels and tires and spindles in October. I spent a good few hours drawing up some napkin drawings and picked up most of the needed metal last week. So.... Today was the day. I headed to the shop and started the fab. My ideas put to paper.
All the materials layed out. 2x2 box tube 1 1/4 box tube 3x2 box tube 2x2 angle 1 1/2" round stock 1 1/2" heavy DOM tube The wheels and tires. 20x9.5x8 Spindles and coupler
thanks Dallas. No. If you dump wood on the ground then you have to pick it back up. I usually cut the wood and put it in the trailer, then haul it home and split it and stack it right from the trailer... or I take the splitter in the woods and split the wood and put it right into the trailer and it goes from the trailer right to the stack. The tailgate will probably be bolted shut.
i thought maybe it was a multiuse trailer that you could load mulch gravel or dirt and dump where you want it and you could still use it for wood in the locked position
Great looking build. Now is the time to put the hinge on the end of the tongue to make it dump. I realize it isn't your plan, but the wife or kids might have other ideas. Or with a boat winch you could drag big rounds up in it easier . If you stack on pallets or the wire containers, a rolling floor and dumping you could load and stack in the woods and unload the finished product at the house in one fell swoop. Plans for saw and tool holders on the outside of the sides? You will always find a good use for this. Hitch on the back so you can tow the splitter?
Very nice TurboDiesel ! I really like my walking axle trailer. I don’t have your welding skills though so I bought mine. The heaviest duty one they had.
So, I think to myself - walking axle??????? But thanks to the great photos you posted, I understand what it means now. Must be great in rough terrain.
