I suppose i could just post a little sign saying "buZZsaw was here"!:woodsign:
Believe it or not i dont take all the roadkill i see. There is 3-4 spots close by that i could work that have decent wood. I want to work one, but need frozen ground as its a huge long red oak trunk on a small hill. Another is sugar maple, but gnarly, knotty yard tree.
The last few have been too easy to pass up.
Ive said this before...four years ago there was a fleet of Asplundh trucks cutting in all the nearby neighborhoods practically in every yard by the wires. I couldnt get a load of wood to save my life. Seems like nobody wants the wood this time. Although this time their cutting is sporadic. I tried to get in touch with my Asplundh contact from one of the crews the other day, but never heard back.

A lot of people, especially those paying top dollar for firewood, don't want round wood. In a way I don't blame them, it often rots in an uncovered pile, with birch being the worst. SOme can be punky and stays heavy and wet.
I don't cut up branches like I used to.

Yea, we usually save to small rounds and limb wood for ourselves. IMG_20191202_105642042.jpg IMG_20191202_161136034.jpg

That stuff makes great fires. I love burning rounds in the cold weather. Lasts longer. Got the same problem here though with tree services. They've got 12" or bigger chippers, so only big stuff from them.
