On my walk yesterday I walked past two dead 9 pointers in the neighbors cut corn field. They were about 50 yards apart. Coyotes are eating good.
We are in the CWD zone but honestly both of these bucks appeared very healthy until their demise. I can’t see any arrow or bullet holes because the coyotes have the carcasses cleaned up real good just off camera. I didn’t want to post any gore pics. If I was a betting man, both of these were arrowed. There are many cross bow hunters in our township that are new to the sport and I think some of them need to practice more,,,,
Ok I am going to rant here. Nothing pizzes me off more than when some jag bag goes to Farm n Fleet buys a $229 crossbow kit shoots two bolts into a bale of straw and calls themselves an archer. It is irresponsible and shows a lack of respect for the animal that is giving his life to you. One must practice to insure a quick clean death. Respect you quarry. practice practice practice and then practice some more I have taken 15 or so deer with a bow and that is how I rolled,,,
Same here buddy! I also hear how they miss a deer and I ask well how far was the shot? Last one said oh about a hundred yards? Wtf? Glad I hunt woods where I only have 30 yard or less shots!
I agree completely! Most likely, we don't even know the half of the misery and wreckage left behind by irresponsible hunters! Our best chance to correct the situation is education, report violations and strive to be ethical in our own comings and goings!
I have retired from bow hunting just a gun hunter now. Never had a cross bow. My last bow was a Hoyt Invader and I thought it was top shelf! It shot a carbon arrow 330 feet per second which was ultra fast compared to my other bows with aluminum arrows. I had to buy a target with 4 bulls eyes because I kept wrecking arrows with one bullseye. I had ONE sight pin on the Hoyt. ONE! 0 to 30 yards I just held it on the boiler room and let her fly. No guess work no range finder no nothing. Took several nice bucks with it during the rut. But if that buck came in at 35 yards plus he might as well been a 100 yards away. I took zero shots past 30 yards and that was it. Never wounded one either.
