It has been a little bit of a struggle this year between my back, hip and pulled groin muscle. Looking to find something else that may make the job less painful. I presently have been using a carrier very similar to this. Was think about getting something like this: Any experience with this style or other styles? There was another carrier that went over your shoulder sort of like a haversack. Can't remember the brand. Going to have to rethink burning if these problems continues and no solutions.
I use a wheel barrow as in my avatar. I used to use just a piece of rope tied in a loop and it worked like a hand carrier similar to your top picture only LOW budget... I used two of them with small loads in each hand so it would balance each side of my body and was much easier on the back, legs, and shoulders.
I use this^^^ style by Plow and Hearth. Rolling Wood Caddy, Heavy-Duty Steel with Large Wheels | Eligible for Promotions | PlowHearth But!!! get the one with the big wheels!!! it rolls so much better than a dolly with those 8" tires that always go flat like the one in your pic!!
I find my 13 y/o son does great job. It never causes me any pain when he does it. You may want to consider getting one. on the other hand, I can definitely recommend that you don’t get an 11 y/o son. It is painful just to watch him do any physical labor! but in all seriousness, I carry mine in my arm. But I have used the bags similar to what you posted. You just can’t load them too full because it forces you to walk a bit lopsided which can be quite uncomfortable.
Don't want another kid! I have done my duty to keep the world's population up. Grandsons work very well, but are not that reliable. They don't come around everyday.
You might want to consider a four wheel trolley; they have some with sides on them. Very stable and probably a whole lot less strain on you.
From my deck stack to stove, I'll use a canvas log carrier for 4-5 splits. I have and do use a 2-wheel dolly to move splits around. I use a yard cart similar to this, primarily to move wood to my deck rack, from my woodyard Decisions... decisions.
[/QUOTE] I use wheel barrow to haul from the shed to the house then carry into the house in my arms & stack it in the wood box.I use approx 1 wheel barrow daily from Oct till May
I use a dolly to carry wood from the woodshed to a small rack in my garage and my arms from the garage rack to the holder by my stove.
I use a forklift to bring a rack of wood into the garage...a 15 gallon bucket from the garage to the furnace then. If you use those totes, use 2 at a time, your back will thank you for the balanced load...
Here's the P&H cart. Dad bought this thing many years ago. We've been using it for 2 winters now. If it were to break, I'd definitely buy another if i couldn't repair it. I've had it stacked up above the handle till pieces were falling off and it still goes easy.
The wood dolly looks great. Thanks for the pointer on large wheels. Looking forward to Brian chiming in. I use the Mini to bring it up near the back porch. Two carries would definitely relieve some pain. My wife brings in smaller loads and will keep toting. She keeps telling me not to load up so much. Not in the male nature. I bring in a couple of large loads and sit down to recover. She just keeps on going like the Energizer Bunny.
I bring my wood from the wood shed to under the back pergola in a wheel barrow and then load it into this plastic bin on wheels and bring the wood in. Best part is it catches all the bark so a lot cleaner than bringing armfuls in. Probably get close to 3 armful loads if I load it right up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Not sure mate no brand on it? I got it from Bunnings which is our biggest hardware chain down here. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
With the drolet in the basement here used infrequently, just an armful at a time. Same at garage and cottage for the Englanders.
