Yes I am, 5th generation since 1860. I have not proofed yet but it seems my maternal GGgranfather homesteaded in Edwards county and died in P-ugg, the town escapes me, it is south now, and Except I moved to WY in 2013..... His business (blacksmith/farm implements/Schuttler wagons ((he was the first to bring them out west, leaf springs under the seat)) The farm was Henderson to near Brighton to Irondale. The very last parcel is now Belle Creek. Sad, they said they would save my grandparents trees in the back yard for the park but they did not :( Family discord is sad. I just left Colo a few years back, went near Boulder for my Dad's funeral recently and honestly could not recognize where I was half the time while husband drove us though both of us know those routes well (we were sales for a few decades and drove it often for work and family visits). It's CRAZY down there now, worse than California where he, my husbandm is from o_O

Kiowa, neat! Where I live now appears to be a lot like there but higher elevation and windier. Were they ranchers? My maternal line listed the sons in 1880 as cowboys :) Might you have a contact that I could hire to get more info on my family from the Colorado Historical Society? I tried to hire a person twice but he petered out. There are many records down there not available online and I cannot get down there. KUDOS to your Pop for starting and driving that society, history is priceless!

Are the "wings" on the AS just for looks, or do they serve a function?

I worked for Digital Equipment Corp back in the late 70s until it got bought by Compaq and then they got bought by HP. We had a large DEC services facility and also disk storage engineering facilities in Colorado Springs. I'd get out there frequently in the mid late eighties, ti was certainly "booming" back then!

Beautiful area. Many of my friends took jobs out there. I think HP still owns at least one of the facilities there. I used to stay at a hotel that had a babbling brook with big trout in it, running through the lobby. It was beautiful!

Edit: Ooop! Sorry, I didn't realize this was getting way off topic.

I love my Absolute Steel too! ..I love what people are doing with the various bling and such and have seen some really nice installations. The WS Facebook Page has posted a couple recent pics of both and IS and a AS install that were stunning.

That's the long way of saying MORE PICs PLEASE!

I would think they would provide extra radiation surface to pull more heat off the box. They look good IMO, but I wouldn't mind the plain version or High Style, either. As I'm sure you've seen, there's a lot you can do with colors and motifs. If your wife is like mine, though, she could decide at any time to paint the room a different color, and colors you got when choosing the stove might be out the window. ;) You could always re-paint the stove, I guess. I really like the neutral look of Tavery's stove, and might go with something like that if I put an AS in here.

Yeah, I would probably go with something fairly standard in color, just in case she ever gets that wild hair....

I noticed almost immediately how heat was being distributed in our house. Thought hmmmm. But quickly realized those wings were adding to this. Not an easy house to heat. 1907 Victorian. But the Absolute is doing things I have not experienced via several other stoves. Pretty cool, er, warm.

And yes, my thoughts exactly about if, when the missus wants to change things up. Nice.

Off topic... oh yes. I had one of the very early DEC Rainbows. Wrote screenplays on it. And knew some folks out at the DEC facilities. That whole Garden of the Gods corridor, with then MCI at the end. Same but not same now.

And back to the topic... will have to wander over to the Facebook page to see the recent pics. May take some snaps and video myself. Always mesmerizing with the secondaries wafting as the cat is coming online. My missus and cat like it too. No kidding... our cat sits and stares at the dance.
