yeah, friends and family and fellow hoarders are not eligible. Hey Stoveshamster are you sure that last split is beech? Reminds me of smaller silver maple. Reason i question is the way the bark is peeling like a thin piece of skin. Cant say ive ever seen beech do that.
I know that Stoveshamster has a well diversified Woodfolio, however I used my knowledge and intellect of the wood community to get it right. Stoveaclaus is a woodsman!
It’s the smaller branches of a beech BRAD. 6” diameter CSS by tours truly. It does look like silver but it’s not.
It can be very hard to judge from a photo, even on pics ive posted. I wouldve gone all in it was silver...and lost! Good thing i didnt! Hoard on my friend, hoard on! AWHNR!
Long Island beech looks like Michigan poplar. Or maybe ash limb wood. Got any more pics of your beech?
I only have a few pieces left buried in my stack. I’m hoping to score more this winter along with hickory. I’ve never had hickory
I always thought apple was super low btu. (just checked a chart again) I clearly misread the exact same chart years ago!! way back before this site even existed. thank you for posting!!!
Does Apple generally have that huge sapwood? That split looks like it is from a pretty good-sized trunk. Shouldn't the winner get a Christmas turkey dinner, instead of chicken?
