In order to make grilling pellets they need to use food grade oil for everything ,not to mention specific wood types. This is what I've been told.

No hurry since the price is good till the end of January. BTW, you can get 1% back thru Rakuten - wohoo, another $1.89 to spend on pellets!

I wouldn't recommend eating pellets but for cooking another important factor could be the grease used in the pellet machines. Wood naturally has a small amount of contaminates but some greases have heavy metals. A good moly-free grease like Lithoplex RT is a good start. Pellet machines take a lot of grease, but the wood to grease ratio is probably 50,000 to 1 so it may not even matter. There's more metal in the pellets from roll and die wear than from grease. There's probably more metal from wear on the pellet grill's feed system than anything else.

A guy I know, the owner of a company that designs wood dryers, has a brother who has made grill pellets. He said you only want to use a small portion of the "flavor" species in the mix or it's too strong.

My pellets are a blend of hardwood and softwood so keep that in mind.

I'm going to start a thread. Just so this stuff doesn't get lost in the mix. Hopefully you will join in as well. Because you don't use additives, I am going to break my grill in(cure the paint??) with your MWP and do a full clean one it is cured!.

Got a special little tool I bought off ebay this weekend.

Slick little puller for removing the centering ball in a CV drive shaft u joint.
The ball is supposed to be round...not pear shaped
The removal tool took maybe a minute to get the ball off (Pressed on type)

Waiting for the new parts to get here and then put it back together.....

That little tool sells for right close to $300 and I snagged it for $20 to the door.

EBAY...A great place to shop.... yesssssssssssssss

 Getting by on Rocky Mountain Pellets, much less heat, more ash, and clinker/almost clinkers than our normal brand. Thankful they are readily available though. I'll do another thorough cleaning on Tues or Wed too.
