Great score and just down the street! I bet the saw is already fueled, oiled and sharpened and sitting just inside the garage door along with the wedges, axes spare fuel and all the misc. other firewood gathering paraphernalia. Between the tree service and the Buzzette, that poor tree never had a chance!
I made a start, just to show I'm serious. 4:30 and it's already too dark to feel safe in the street. Oh, and it's red maple, not sugar. Which is OK, it's a lot lighter.
Tomorrow starts sunny, high of 38°, then rain beginning at 3 or 4P. Saturday looks to be rain most of the day. I hope I can get most of it tomorrow.
Awesome! Decent tree whether red or sugar! Gonna be a big mound when they're done. You'll kinda look and say "where do i start"? A familiar sight around here the last three months and they are still going. More to be had, but work and weather have been against hoarding. Gotta make more room too. You know how that is! If i lived closer id give you a hand. Hope you got the okay from "dad". Can you put a sign up? Best of luck with it and keep us updated okay, cousin?
Sugar is great firewood. More btu's than oak. Seasons in a year. Pretty easy to hand split. One of my favorites too.
Midwinter i took a vacation day tomorrow (just to help out ) I'll be over your way and would be happy to help you out. Let me know
This is sort of reminding me of lawyers chasing ambulances but with a higher moral standard. Gotta find me an Asplundh crew to tail. Be careful and pace yourself Midwinter That's alot of wood to tackle.
Sure, come on by, I can use some help! Asplundh said they'd be back at 8A to drop the trunk and do final cleanup. I'm betting they are done by 10A at the latest. Whenever the coast is clear, I'll be at it. I'll PM you my phone & address.
The big push will be moving it to my yard. Then I can take my time arranging it and processing it. This is my path.
