Man, those are some beautiful pups. I always wanted a GSP to bird hunt with, but not many birds around here any more.
Hey thanks buddy. I grew up and still live in what was once some darn fine pheasant hunting territory. Unfortunately, farming practices, grain prices, among other things, have really hurt our wild bird population too. We can still go out and scratch up a couple on most days with the dogs but I damm near feel guilty anymore when I do. I guide at a few hunt clubs around here and enjoy that with the dogs. I also host some youth hunts and REALLY enjoy that. The kids like to shoot birds but they're usually more intrigued by the dogs.
We used to have a ton of pheasants, until an idiot decided to spray for mosquitos from planes and trucks, killed off all the pheasant! Nature is fine on its own, man is the destroyer..
They are good dogs. I never used mine for hunting. He was actually terrified of gunshots, even with ears plugged with cotton balls. The short hair is nice... I have a Lab now and I swear I could use a grain shovel to clean the floors in the house. Hair gets EVERYWHERE somehow. I try to sweep/vac every couple days and I usually pick up enough hair to fill a plastic grocery bag.
