I have a brother who has a lot of quirks. Rarely will answer a text or even a phone call. His dropped his girlfriend off at her car, and drove away. Her battery was dead and he didn’t answer the phone two minutes later. Looks at who the caller is and ignores it. He is in business for himself. I have no idea who would tolerate that. will call a week later as if your voice message or text was five minutes ago, when a week has passed. he was towing atv’s to our tree farm for our Memorial Weekend event. Rear end goes out, and he expects me to drive ninety miles to trailer the atv’s the last five. “Call a wrecker and tow all of it to the farm”. then he asks if I have the number of a neighbor down there he has spoken with once. “Call a wrecker and have everything towed to the farm and be done with it” Maybe the guy we told could no longer hunt on our place would come tow the atv’s trailer and tow his suburban after. “Call a wrecker to take them to the farm and be done with it” this is a guy who managed his money and hasn’t had to punch a time clock since his early thirties. Cheapest person I have known. His vehicle had 200 thousand miles before he decided not to repair it. stuff like this goes on all the time. He nearly went insane under. The last President, ranting about things that didn’t affect him at all. Has strong opinions and advocates on issues, but has never donated to anything. He would be content to let the cabin at the tree farm never be upgraded, and go to ruin. He does great carpentry, so when his brain cells go that way, he does great work. I am too embarrassed to recommend him to anyone for remodeling jobs though. oddly he has several long time friends, and people take a liking to him. Can’t figure it out.
Yeah my brother is much smarter and financially more successful than i am. He was born at the right time to do exactly what he loved and had the skills to excel at it.
YES!! My brother lives at 11,600 feet! He has 2 wood stoves. He currently has about 5 feet of snow on the ground. He's already out of wood and complaining about it. I tell him every spring "better start stackin, bro" but he never listens. Then he complains about the cost of propane and the fear of running out of propane when the delivery trucks can't make it in, due to snow! I only live at 9,000 feet, and I have roughly 15 cords of wood ready to go for the winter. I worked HARD for it. I'm not just going to give it to him. We get serious cold and snow here too. I might need it, myself! I usually have a few cords left over after every winter, but still. Sorry to complain. I love him dearly. He just can't plan ahead for anything.
I have one sibling, my brother. We are a lot alike in temperament, sense of humor, and worldview. We both take after my father, who died at 55, so it is a comfort for us to see my dad in each other. He got my father's math skills, but I didn't. My brother doesn't burn wood, but he does have cats!
My brother would pay double for oil before he gets his hands dirty. He’s got a guy for everything. He came up to visit once and we were all splitting wood at my parents, he came down with his tank top and tan and asked for the maul. His wife snapped a pic and they went back up to the A/C. Our little sister will get her hands dirty though.
The stories I could tell about my siblings! I have 5 of them. I’ll leave it at that. I don’t want to wear out the touch screen on my phone keyboard. . I know my mother won’t say I’m the smartest, that go it goes to my brother who basically had a perfect score on the ASVAB (99); I guess I’m number two in that category. But she has told me that I’m the most reasonable, dependable, stable, and the only one she never has to worry about. I think these traits are true about many of us on this forum. We are self reliant and don’t expect the anything from anybody. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
saewoody, first real fight I saw my parents have.. Dad off hand comments, if I had to lose a kid it would be me My mother My fathers response, WHAT.. Hes the only one with enough common sense to find his way home
I have three brothers, and two sisters, who are adopted. I am the oldest. We are all similar in temperament, but have a lot of different interests, which makes it fun. They are all hard working. All of us brothers love the outdoors, but none dedicate anywhere near half the time I do to it. So I am the guide for all the fishing and hunting we do together. Now we are working on getting their children into field sports as well, and several of them are starting to show some promise. Aside from my immediate family, ministry work through our church, and my job, the outdoors is my passion. Luckily my wife and three children love the outdoors as well, so we spend a lot of time with our adult children, now with a grand daughter in the mix. My hope is that our children stay as close as they are now.
When young, my wife was always thought to be my sister while no one thought my two sisters and I were related. The three of us are as different in nature as in appearance. None of the three of us can understand why the others do what they do. My wife and I also share the same nature. Why does some ash split like elm and some elm split like ash?
I have 2 brothers. Oldest is 18 mo older than me, younger 15 yrs. We all like the outdoors. Oldest in high school lost the vision in one eye. My mom once told me he was jealous of me. When it came to sports I would just stand back and watch and then just do it. Where he struggled to get it down. He ended up almost totally blind due to macular degeneration. At the time he was finally diagnosed he was doing a lot of kayaking. I had looked into it and told him bangs on the head could make it worst. He never kayaked after that. My little brother was 4 when I left home so never got to see him grow up. We both went into the military. He went Army and I was Air Force. He is a Gulf war veteran and I am a Vietnam vet. He will come up and help Chaz with dropping trees and bucking them but we always send dry wood home with for his campfires. So with our differences in our lives it has a lot to do with who we are.
Just a side note here for those "not in the know".. I went to school with Chazsbetterhalf 's brother. She's a cougar. (or was)
I'm the quirky brother. I am the oldest of 3 boys. Both my younger brothers seem to have more common sense than me. When I talk them, I feel like I'm talking to my older brothers.
ASVAB scores are a bit different. I scored a perfect 99 on that, but my ACT score wasn't perfect. If my 2 older brothers ever took the ASVAB, I'm sure their scores would be low. My middle brother, I'm the youngest, is a genius, but he has zero street smarts, and minimal mechanical abilities. He runs his own consulting company and writes and uses computer programs The oldest brother is an artist and totally useless. He works hard, when pressed, and he is smart. He knows only completely useless information though, mostly about art. He isn't able to sell any of his art though, and claims he does speaking gigs around the country. Yet, he's 100% reliant on his GF that he lives with that actually has a "normal" job, and she does art on the side, but her artwork gets national press, and actually sells. He watches a lot of cartoons and plays tennis during the day. I mean this happens and this guy sells 3 of them for 120k each. I don't get it.
Horkn, I am laughing because it’s so true, my older sister, is absolutely brilliant, scored a 1580 on her SATs. Out of 1600 at that point. Is a fantastic nurse, if a plane ever crashed you would want her there doing triage. Just cannot handle Every day life. She called me up and was absolutely out of her mind because her car wouldn’t start. Battery was 5 years old.
Ummm.. No, I am married to Chazsbetterhalf I went to school with her brother. I am many moons younger than my wife. Chazsbetterhalf was the cougar. (Kind of a moot point now that I am 51.)
Chaz , My Wif is 2 years older than me also. Obviously these wise women know a good thing when they see it!
