20° here now. Still burning boxelder! There's some catalpa and oak left at the very bottom. I'm determined to empty this space before Monday, when it starts to rain for two days. It shouldn't be hard, I'm reloading the stove with boxelder about every hour! IMG_20191207_40921.jpg

Weather forecasters are having a hayday now talking about the coming storm and cold. But first we are supposed to get 2 really warm days.

Still running mostly silver maple here. Moved some snow today before it turns into a brick. Supposed to see single digits tonight before a thaw Monday and Tuesday. Would rather it just stayed cold, because two feet of snow melting is just going to make a mess, and two days of rain won't get me back into the wood processing area! Ah well, such is winter. Plenty of btus on deck regardless. :)

31°F at my place right now and by tomorrow morning it'll be close to 15°F. I'll fill the wood bin tonight before I turn in.

Hey gang. Its been a bit. Weve been warm here with lots of mild temps this week between -1c/30f/ and 4c/40f. It looks like we will be cooling off after today. Ive been shoulder season burning each day. Heres some larch I put in the stove a bit ago tonight for an overnight burn. Its -4c/25f with moderate snow fall at the moment. I went ice fishing with my son today. We didn't catch anything but it was good to get him out on a lake for a bit. He has a wicked cough right now. The poor guy saw a rainbow come near his hook but he couldn't hold a cough in so it got startled and swam away.

You are right. It is 37f right now at almost 4 AM here. It will be -16f at this time in a few days or so, on top of 4-6" of new snow.

2 degrees outside. 70 inside. Last if the coals from last night’s red oak load are cooking down before a reload of red oak, white oak and a piece of white pine. When it warms we will be back to black and white birch, poplar and pine.

10° outside, house is 69° as always because of the gas boiler running in the background. I did reload in the middle of the night. Burning oak and boxelder. The steel ring next to the stove is almost full, and there's about another ring's worth still outside in the shed, and that will be the end of the BE. I'd pick up some boxelder again, but no real need to, as I have almost a cord of poplar ready for next fall.

6°F here this am. 47° in the garage. House inside is a nice 67°. Burning some larger splits of black oak alongside some black birch. Must have been stuff I split by hand - No teeth marks in it from the splitter.

Is your garage heated? Or just insulated? Does it receive passive heat exchange from the house?

Just insulated. No heat source out there. It’s never dropped below 45°F even during the stretches of negative temps in the dead of winter.

15* outside 66* inside this morning. Got some ash and a few splits of cherry in the nc30 to warm things up. It's supposed to warm up today and tomorrow then back to your regularly scheduled temps after that.
