a neighbor asked me to take away a medium sized cherry tree. It was one of those days where everything seems like a hiccup. First I hit the chain on a hidden stone. After replacing it...chainsaw seemed to be jammed...that took more doing. I went back home to grab the splitter. Got back to the site, then splitter not working! I figured out it worked with choke partly “choked”. Will have to play around with this to see what’s going on there. Well after several hours, I had a truck load of cherry. I know I definitely earned every BTU.
Sometimes, even when things don't go well....the result is still worth the effort. I'd say this is one of those.
I often use the saying.. "Mama said there'd be days like these." Then added.. "But she didn't say there'd be so many"
My Uncle always said after a night of beer drinking, “Sometimes you eat the bar and sometimes the bar eats you”
Haven't had a day like that in a while, knock on wood. Hopefully you truly enjoy burning the splits when the time comes. Maybe save some for smoking meats.
"Back in my day, we didn't have any of these chained saws or infernal splitting machines! We had to chop our trees down with an axe like MEN!" - George Washington Jk. Sorry about the troubles - you won at the end of the day, and maybe now the monthly b.s. quota is filled so you'll be good to go for a while. Get the bad stuff all out of the way in one day, right?
Missed this thread last night. Well after all the BS you went through (been there, done that) it was worth the effort. Nice looking load of splits Steve!
Overcoming a few challenges adds some seasoning. Using your experience, skill & tenacity made what could have been a frustrating day into a successful one. ...... That’s how we roll here
I was going to suggest the same. If it’s running at least I would dump some sort of carb cleaner/fuel treatment in the gas tank and let the issue work itself out. If that doesn’t solve the problem then go after the carb more directly. The reason I would do it in that order is because so many of these newer machines are a little bit of a chore to actually get to the carb. And I suggest to everyone who asks, to use a good fuel treatment product in all your gas cans. Then it just goes into all your equipment. It is a life changer when you have to deal with 10% ethanol. The one recommended to me over a dozen years ago that I also recommend is StarTron.
I use a bit of Sea Foam in the fuel tank each time of full up the splitter. What ratio of gas to Sea Foam should I use to help clean carb out at this point?
If I’m not mistaken, sea foam is one of those products that you can’t really over do it with. I don’t use it on a regular basis, but there is usually a bottle on my shelf in the garage. I looked it up real quick, looks like a full bottle treats 16 gallons. So that is an ounce per gallon. I would give it a heavy dose, run for several minutes, let it sit for an hour or so, and then run it again. Or if you have wood to split, go ahead and run the splitter for that purpose. I wouldn’t have any fear of putting 4-6 ounces in a gallon tank. Obviously I can’t guarantee this will definitely work, but I would give it a shot if it were me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
