I worked those long shifts and strings of days with no days off (second job) Raising 4 kids etc. Doesn't leave much for scraps on the table.
    Happy Birthday Chaz

Caffeine going in. Early drive over to school to get kids to Jazz Band practice soon. Then off to take my parents trash away and get diesel fuel for another day of dirt work.

I was fortunate to be able to find my retired neighbor at a time when he was not busy and could bring my Loader Backhoe into his large metal building and warm it up. Then clean out the frozen clay in the front bucket and grease the whole machine for me. He has a large wood burning stove that he can put whole pallets in to heat up his workshop. Great guy. Helps me out and his work rate for me is cheap. :handshake:

Clear cold morning. Getting ready for our walk. campinspecter and our oldest daughter are celebrating their birthdays today. Hard to believe I have a 45 yr old daughter.
Only two weeks left until my Christmas Holidays. A lot to do before then.

Yes at 5:30 AM it is still dark. Won't get light until almost 8:00 AM and by 4:15 PM it is getting dark again.

Yes. Especially when it freezes in like concrete. Best way to remove is to warm it up so it breaks up and slides out easier. I can dip the Backhoe bucket into the water in the pond and keep working it open and closed. The water and jarring clean it right out. But I can’t get the loader bucket down there and don’t want to build a ramp.

Hunting drive down a clay road where the tires were spinning (that clay is slippery as snot!) in order to not get stopped on a hill. Next day, remove the clay with a garden hose and hand remavol….in November here to boot!

    Yes, it was miserable cold.

The next time I saw a clay road, I turned around! :handshake:  :rofl:

I hear you on that one. In just a bit over a week, our youngest turns 55. How on earth did this happen so fast?

Happy birthday to campinspecter and your daughter.

Might be cutting a bit more wood this afternoon. Not much else going on around here and it is nice to cut wood before the serious cold moves in.

Yes, it looks like the middle of next week will get cold. I'm hoping I can get out to my wood lot and get those dead standing elms, and the couple of ash trees down bucked and hauled. Frozen ground will help me a lot, as the mud doesn't make things any easier. Gun deer season is over, so I can resume woods work when the weather allows. I need to pick non windy days to drop these trees. The lot is on the top part of a hill and gets a lot of wind. There's not much room for error to prevent leaners/ widow makers.

Oh, and now my wife has just said that were hosting a few friends over on December 14. So I'll surely need to clean up the wood that I put near the patio door and other assorted outside clean up.

The good news is that I like hanging out with these people. I also can perform my blind taste test on the Point Special Lager vs Yuengling lager. I know as good as yuengling is, Point is better, but most that have tried Yuengling around here think it's some otherworldly amazing stuff that there's no way little Stevens Point Brewery with it's under $14 a 24pk price could beat a beer that costs twice as much and only gets hauled back to Sconnie by the beer wagon once in a while. you can't buy yuengling in Wisconsin. The closest state you can in Ohio.

Mano a Mano , lager to lager. Point started in 1857 and Yuengling in 1829. Two old guard breweries that have done this for over 150 years each.

I hear you about cutting on hill tops. Not the best thing to do on windy days. But then, when you are cutting inside the woods, it is dang near impossible to not get trees hung up. Just part of the job. We just deal with them.
