We will miss being up north at our cabin as my wife and I typically are the weekend after thanksgiving, but we are staying in town for my brother-in-laws 60th birthday party this afternoon which will certainly be fun too. We really enjoy snow storms and winter in general! At least there is plenty more coming!!!

I like how they sugarcoat it, "upgrades" and "enhancements"!

Or love how they terrorize it, "bomb cyclone" or better yet, "explosive cyclogenesis." We used to call them snowstorms, or a blizzard it if was cold and windy enough during the heavy snow period.

That being said, this current storm is also the type of system that gives us periods of thunder snow, which is pretty interesting to experience when it does happen.

15.1 °F with another dusting of snow , winds are calm as the sun rises. A lot of trees in town, mainly Siberian Elms, broken up from the heavy wet snow and winds yesterday.

I saw a news story last night on the weather in the Grand Canyon in Arizona and it did not look nice. It looked like some people had to hole up in hotels until the wind and snow passed.

Wow pretty pictures. That first picture could be from the part of BC where I live. Pooch looks comfy! We are -13c/8.5f under high overcast. Ive raked the coals forward to get ready for my morning load of pine or fir.

It’s been quite cold here over the last few days with temperatures struggling to get more than a couple of degrees above freezing.

Reading on here I’ve learnt how to pack the stove tight for a longer burn time; I’ve managed to keep it running for the last 48 hours now. This is a fantastic result and the house has been much comfier with the heat slowly working it’s way to parts of the house which would normally not benefit from the stove

Shoprshire looks like a nice place to live Dazza95.

I am a good part Welsch...last name is Bennett.

Anyways, I have only been to England only once. My college roommate won a scholarship to study a semester at Oxford so I went to stay with him and enjoyed my time there very much, as well as some time in London, but never made it to Wales...maybe another time.

Oh, I found a gym to work out in while in London, and the owner was David Prowse, the gentleman who played Darth Vader in Star Wars...really nice guy.

Visiting the Grand Canyon this time of year is hit or miss. They actually close down the North Rim on October 16. If you or any other FHC members decide to visit the Grand Canyon I would personally avoid the South Rim if you have time for the drive to the North Rim. The crowds are about 1/1000th, the drive is beautiful and staying up at the lodge over night in one of their cabins can't be beat. It's a completely different experience than the South Rim if you want a more relaxed and intimate visit.

Went for a walk a little over an hour ago and it started snowing then. I just checked and there is 2" on the ground now!

Might be a dandy if it keeps up at this rate!

23* here now, Spruce & Cherry on the grill. We're supposed to get an inch or two tomorrow afternoon, and 8 to 12" in the evening, followed by close to 8" Monday. And then a few more inches Tuesday. I'm going to cut some wood in the AM before the snow. But not that kind of wood, finish carpentry, trim moulding.

Loaded up some pine at 6PM so I could load up with oak at 9 or so as it is forecast to drop to 19ºF overnite.
Splits I put in at 6 were a tad big so gotta wait a bit still. Little bit of a sore/raw throat and fever. THe guessers are still not sure we'll see any snow tomorrow. It'll be cold enough because there are things I want to do outside tomorrow.

Snowblower time again....I'll be using the shovels for the "clean up" after snowblowing.
