Going to try and consolidate some of my posts. We will see how it works. Last week I worked with Wood Doctor from OPE to fell and get some mulberry. Split up my truck load yesterday so here is the results.
Went with him today to take down a few small dead locust trees from the same homeowner to help build up his hoard after he suffered a big theft this past summer. Not a lot of wood, but should be mostly dry. Also made the homeowner happy so maybe a connection for future scores.
Have tons of wood out at my friend Lefty's place that needs processed. So going to try and spend more time out there on that mess. Should have enough out there to keep us busy for the next couple years, plus at least one tree service drops wood when they are in the area and looking like we may have another one start dropping off next week.
Thanks, this was nice sized wood and easy splitting, but still heavy. I find it kind of amazing how good of wood it is since it's fairly fast growing. Adds some nice color in the sell pile so always try to keep some in there. Of course, this is for next year. Lefty has 2 of the 656s. They could both use lots of TLC. They are pretty darn handy moving wood along with his other chores.
Been trying to hit it hard on these nice weekends. Filled the truck twice with leaves from the house dumping them at Lefty's acreage. Also been trying to get some wood split around his place that's been sitting for a few years. Haven't been good at taking pictures like normal so no reason to post much. Today we spent a few hours and split a little over a cord, some dry but most will need to sit for a year or two. He sent me a couple of poor pictures but thought I would post them anyway.
Hey Stephiedoll , looks like you're getting right after it. Well done! Still want one of those 656's.
Always good to work on your backlog! Neatens up the place, stores tighter, and you can be sure you've got dry wood for next winter.
Dry wood is nice. Still have plenty at the house Molly. Been stuck out in norther Iowa and now Truman, MN. Started week on Monday, at 47 hours now and working the next two days for sure,
Blizzard was Tuesday night. Had to drive 11 miles to motel room at 11pm, way not fun. Then yesterday morning, idler pully on van froze and took out the belt. After finding {Ford dealership), getting it there and then providing a customer remote support after they made major program changes in their phone system for another hour, put us over 4 hours late start. So now sitting in a motel room so I can get that job complete today. Hope to get out of here around noon and then a 4-5 hour drive home depending on the roads and direction I drive. Safest would be an hour out of the way to Sioux Falls, SD. and down so all interstate. Will check 511 before setting out. Only 20% chance of rain/snow up here but the roads are still not great because of the blowing snow. Happy Thanksgiving all!
Thanks all. I-90 not the greatest, but highways 60, 75 and I-29 all good, just some light rain the last 50 miles or so. Grand Island today, they had thunderstorms and heavy fog on the way back. At least above freezing. Ran in to the Cornhusker game traffic as from Lincoln to Omaha, as slow as 15MPH on I-80. Got back and have a weekend off. Maybe do some splitting tomorrow but have to see. Happy shopping all.
