This is what the new 6421's look like
    Screenshot_20191129-182739~2.png
Which is what the 6400 looks like, except that the older makitas are the Makita blue. A 6400 typically has the grey top cover, and the 6421 typically had the black top cover and had a cat in the muffler, but you can't really see that from the outside. My DCS6421 looks and it's really just like the red orangy one I posted, except the Makita blue.

What you posted is an older dolmar. As said earlier I wouldn't pay more that 150 for that.

They’re proud of that one. A 7900 costs less lol.

In looking at the picture that you posted, it’s missing the outside felling dog too. I noticed how aggressive the inside spike looked and thought it was odd that there wasn’t one on the outside. Compression felt good. Asking price was $299, offered $200, he didn’t come back with a counter offer. Didn’t seem to worried about getting rid of it yet at this time of year. So it’s still there. There is however another open hole in their gun rack :emb:

Yep, that dolmar at the shop is missing a dog. He's well overpriced, he will sit on that a while.

I’ve never run anything but husqvarnas, heard so many good things about dolmars, I thought it might be fun to play with one. First one I’ve ever seen in person. Now I know a little more about em anyway. Thanks for the input guys

If you want to find one, do like I did. $300 for the barely used 6421 Makita from home Depot..

Somebody will snatch it up eventually. I’m not sure there are many chainsaw junkies in Nebraska . Only myself and jtstromsburg in the club that I know of

Sandhillbilly , If you're dead set about a Makita/Dolmar, picked up this used 6421 today. Needs cleaning and a choke lever, but can still use it. Started in 3 pulls cold, but idle is way to fast so hoping just needs a little adjustment. Haven't decided what I am going to do with it, but already have the 365 and 562. May run it some and see how it goes plus, still need to pull the muffler to check inside, but feels like great compression.

This was the picture from the ad, haven't had time to take any.

Thanks, but not really looking for or wanting a dolmar specifically. I just knew this one was available and thought i might be able to get a good deal on it. Mostly just have a CAD itch that needs scratched :loco:
