36 and 76 still on coals. Looks like another fairly mild day with a few flurries later on. We’re the lucky ones though, over 20k have no power at up to 8” just north of us. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
35 out 71 in. Just put some ash in the Buck. Going to get the bird in the oven shortly. Wife did the baking now the cook is on task.
It's beginning to look as if we've had our winter here. Cooler today than yesterday but still above freezing and expected to stay that way with only high 20's expected for the lows. But, I can live with that.
Break from the kitchen..... woke up to the freezing mark, snow, but it has tapered off for now! No fire, with the oven going for hours!
We are expecting a decent snow storm here soon, by tonight (Thanksgiving) we should start to see some but by tomorrow night (Friday) we are going to start getting slammed. Plows won't be running so, it should be interesting trying to make it to work on Monday.
Its amazing how much an oven will heat your house! Happy Thanksgiving to my American friends! -16c/3f with high overcast. Lodgepole pine heating the house. Ice fishing season is around the corner!!
Yes, Happy Thanksgiving everyone on FHC!! I reloaded the stove on coals this am with a couple of splits. I think it's Siberian elm. It's not heavy enough to be honey locust. The furnace popped on once this am after walking down the hall, apparently getting the sensor on the thermostat to dip below 67°. That's typical. So while I know the oven at 450° for a little while will get the house warm, I hate hearing the furnace, so a nice fire in the stove will be appreciated, even if it's just me and the dogs in the tv/ stove room.
Been snowing since dawn got 1 or 2 fresh probably drifts deeper. so it’s white out.. haven’t lost all snow since Veterans Day
Mid 40s here and still gusting winds. Restart this morning. Tossed some cherry in before going to dinner.
28f here now, Cherry and Spruce again. It's supposed to get cold tomorrow and Sunday, and the guessers say we might get snow into Monday.
30 and still windy but the sun is shining at least. Still burning coals. There’s still over 5k people without power this morning after a high of 50k yesterday. Not a great way to spend thanksgiving. I hope they’re back in business soon we’re heading for some colder temperature and snow Monday.
Your due east of me correct? We never saw any strong winds, a few 30mph gusts, but that's it. The cold front definitely moved through though.....
-20c/-4f under clear skies in the Rockies. Ive got a mixed bag of old dense doug fir, lodgepole and larch in the box this morning.
