Feel better! That sucks on a day like today! Hopefully it doesn't affect eating! Sometimes we sleep wrong or twist wrong and outta nowhere- we're down! Here's to a speedy recovery!

image.jpeg Don't forget desert, baked this morning, cherry pie! With that special super flaky crust. The smaller one is just for me! It's for later. Anyone ever cook a turkey using a cooking bag?? Boy, does it ever turn out great!!! Golden brown, with the juice in the bag ready to use for making gravy, hmmmmmmmmm hmmmmm. Here in the PNW we've still got another couple of hours before the ''feast'' begins.

I understand your logic, but the added cooking time to the bird, overcooking the bird to hit that 165° salmonella killing temperature, and salmonella food poisoning of all people eating it if you don't hit that 165° is real. If your back is sore already, food poisoning with associated motions from that will leave you really hurting.

    Right.
Like said, it never was a problem, bird always came out fine, no one ever got sick.
No turkey for me today- Fire Flake went on to eat with her dad, so I get to sit/lay here and take it easy. Kind of a blessing in disguise, in a way.

I love cherry pie. Have been using the bags for years. My mom turned me onto them. Now she also taught me to put tin foil over the top of the bird. When it is almost done, take it off to let it brown up.

I grew up the same way. Mom always stuffed the bird. However, she always over cooked them. Dry tasteless turkey I guess beats everyone getting sick?
I got botulism in college and nearly died from the college food service. 80 people got sick, I was the worst. I should've sued the university.

Ever since then I've been diligent to not have any cross contamination and other expected steps. Nothing really beyond that, except hamburger must be cooked but that's a smart thing for anyone.

Then I met my wife. I started eating really good. Chef quality stuff. I don't need to worry about anything with her. I help/prep/ cook with her as well.

People get food poisoning more often than they think. Anytime you feel a little not so good after eating, it's a good chance that's food poisoning.
