I see lots of snow falling up there Dave. Glad you are getting it rather than us! It is wet here and the wind is picking up a bit but nothing bad yet. Temp at 50 when I got up. 52 now but probably will be going down very soon. Then it will feel cold with the windy conditions. Still, I don't have to shovel this stuff.
Well, November was very mild until yesterday. Got about 8" of Northern California powder last night and it's still going strong. Hovering about 30 and will drop into the 20's tonight. Looks like we'll get a long ski season the year! Gonna be smoking a turkey in the snow tomorrow I reckon.
We get lots of snow where I live so a snowblower is a must! I have a bad back as well so it helps a lot as long as I let the snowblower do the work.
Were holding at -9c/16f which is just perfect for me. 2 inches of light snow that was easy to clear with a push shovel but the winds are pretty gusty. Lodgepole pine keeping the house warm.
50-60 mph gusts here it was 40° overnight, but it's dropping now. 38° now. A good bit of rain, with some snow flakes that didn't stick. Up north it's dumping snow. Apparently the northern half of the state has 8-12" of snow had fallen by noon, with more snow to fall until 6pm today. Another storm is to hit Friday- Sunday. No idea where exactly it will track, but maybe we'll get some snow here?
We got rain when the storm first hit and then after midnight it turned to snow. We got around 2-3 inches of heavy wet snow. I tried shoveling the driveway but decided to break out the snow blower. OAT around 30. A dead standing elm isn't standing anymore. At least it isn't in the way and will be easy to get cut up and hauled out of the woods in the spring. Burning a bit of poplar during the day and will throw a few pieces of oak and elm in for the overnight burn.
Finally the plows went by the house! The first one just busted a path open and came past three more times without widening it...…(?) Two of those times, the blades were in the air! The only thing I can figure is that it is a new driver and he must have been trying to catch the snow before it hit the ground!! The grader finally came past and winged the bank back while widening the road also.
Hovering at 35° rain, wind, sleet, even a rumble of thunder. By this time last year we had 3ft of snow. We've recieved 20" of snow thus far, but only about 6" remains. The temps will turn colder tomorrow with single digits again for lows. Burning a small load of hardwoods to keep the damp out.
35F here now, rain finally stopped. Wind gusted to around 50mph for a while. Plenty wet & nasty. .70" of rain. Oak & Pine in the boiler.
Just a follow-up to my last post, getting ready to load some ash and beech. Wife made pecan pie, pumpkin pie, peanut butter pie and banana dessert.
28F. Still burning up leftover mixed bag stuff. Some felt like Balsa tonight! May as well use it up in the mild temps I guess. Cant wait for pie tomorrow. Mmmmmm.
Happy Thanksgiving to you JohnNH and everyone else in this wonderfull club. Take the time to remember what we all have to be thankful for. 39* here and raining as well, Spruce and Cherry in the Vermont Castings.
