    When I was a kid there were many very small dairy farms in our county. We probably went from 300 then to 50 now. The Amish are moving in and bringing back farms. It’s nice to see.

    That was the theme of my dear cousin's funeral 3 years ago-printed on the funeral notice and the Paul Harvey rendition played right before the service. A wonderful tribute to a life long dairy farmer-and they weren't many dry eyes in the chapel.

    A lot of people seem to shun both the Amish and Mennonite communities. I believe a lot of that is due to their lack of knowledge of their religion and customs and their desire to not want to understand it. I personally am intrigued by their faith and diligence. We have a growing Mennonite community in this area.

    You will find most of them honest and hard working folk...and very charitable...but as with any community of people, it seems there is always at least one turd in the punchbowl...:picard:
