That's quite a project Jay. I've done a "to the studs" bathroom remodel a couple of times and while it may be a huge pain in the butt, when it's done, looking and smelling new, that first shower will be awesome.

I kept da toidy operable, Won't disable until I get to that floor section. Sub floor cut to nearest rafter. Off for the 3/4 ply in the morning. Hopefully set the tub tomorrow and then pull dat vanity and toilet to do sub floor and durock.

Previous install was cobbled/shody at best. Looks like they used what ever junk wood that was handy. I'll rip some 1/2 plywood to make some furring strips. I'll also pick up some 1/4 to help with the joist leveling. And shims, lots of shims..............

    Ugh! :pete:

Jay, Good to see you are having your son do a lot of the take out, clean up and install replacements. That experience will serve him well for other construction needs to face him instead of hiring some help. When he looks at the work he took out and how he replaced it with better stuff, he'll know better than take shortcuts when and where it matters.

Busy day yesterday as got up and installed the circuit board in the P68 as all the leaves were frozen together , then headed down and grabbed a ton of Vermont's. Called down to Robbins and she said they had 2 tons left so while pulling in I saw a ton in the back of someone's truck (takes me 45 mins. + to get there ) thought aw crap they are gone . Got inside was one still left but like Vermont's I have never seen wicked blonde, hard , and almost no scent of pine.
After that leaves until 8:30 PM then I offloaded to the basement the ton of Vermont's , long day and feeling it today for sure finished up around 10 pm IMG_0660.jpg IMG_0661.jpg

Today headed down to Pops and watched some football and went out and got some takeout for them, was great to see Mom and Pops .

    Hope all is well

Sort through your extra exterior paint and paint the CHIT out of the new plywood..even the edges and both sides.

That will help seal the wood and keep any OOOOOPS from getting into the wood.
When I did the remodel on our bathroom I sealed all the wood under the tub, da pot and the vanity too.
Then added cement board before resetting the appliances.
    Tiled the floor too.

Takes only a little water to screw it up....

The young one is always gonna be "The kid"

Last winter when I removed my Baby Countryside and replaced it with the Accentra, my oldest son, (45 yo) asked me if he could have it. I told him sure and that when he got ready to install it, let me know and I'll go over the operating and, more importantly, the cleaning the little beastie needs. He did the install this weekend. He lives in a split so he installed it down stairs in his family room. He did a nice, by the book install. I went through how to clean it including the removal of the plug I drilled into the side so compressed air can be used to blow the ask off the top of the "Horseshoe". We fired it up and all was well until the distribution fan came on. We tried oiling it several times and it was better but still sounds like crap so he ordered a new one. (Don222, I gave him your number, did he call you?)

Anyways, it certainly threw some heat. I think he will enjoy it. He is very mechanically inclined so he understand that this stove is great as long as you take care of it. He also knows it can bite you in the rear end if you ignore it. To scare him, I had him read about a hopper fire due to bad air flow. He has a great job and could afford a new stove so maybe he will get the bug and upgrade some day.

Now he will have fun trying different pellets!

November has been rather skimpy on rain/snow but we will not touch any records for the month.
The last few days of the month are going to get cold and snowy.
Temps may well see the 20's F for lows.

Looking like we are gonna be having a two stove show round the clock for a week or so.
    Ahh well.

    WE are ready....

Great idea!! Don't have any ext paint, But do have a gallon or so of water proofing stain. Once I get the wood cut. I'll have "the kid" smear some on them! :)

    That will do it.

Get the edges and both side, especially under the tub.

Its amazing how little water needs to leak into these areas to cause a lot of damage over time.
