It could be the shipping is deterring people. I had someone that was going to send me a saw case last year but when he went to see about the shipping cost, it was too high. I told him to not worry about it and that I appreciated the offer. The USPS basically only offers Priority mail now to ship anything. UPS and FedEx are not much better.

Could be. A lot of people will buy off line if they buy a retail gift and shipping is usually free this time of year.

If you choose a home made gift and your a blacksmith for example it might not be the best choice to make your item out of railroad tracks for example unless it can be handed off in person. Or if I was a wood Carver not to carve a bear with a chainsaw out of an 18" oak stump...unless a similar handoff could occur.

Hopefully people will read this when they think about what they will send or make so there no surprises at the post office when shipping time comes.

And remember folks. Gift cards work as well (if your not into making something or can't think of something to buy for your person), those usually ship for free, unless you want to send a personal card that you bought then it will cost you $0.50.

I agree about the shipping. I've been using Amazon so get free shipping with my prime. I think it has also worked to Alaska in the past, but could be mistaken.
