Any suggestions for dropping this white oak that is already leaning against a hackberry. I was gonna fell the hackberry but not sure if that is wise...might just snap due to pressure? It’s already bent from the weight of the oak. I can’t shoot my guns until i take care of this :(

Has it been cut at the base? I can’t tell from the pic. If so I have used my tractor to pull the base the opposite direction and they drop nicely. If not call Scotty. I hate those. 953 was always my backup.

The base is not cut. My poor Kubota wheezes when I get on it so not moving anything with that. I’m hesitant to pull it to the side for fear of crashing in the shed.

I'd cut it about six feet up from the stump or wherever waist height is. It won't release from the hang-up unless you're really, really lucky, but then you can pull or lever the base or maybe even put a cant hook on it and roll it. The latter is doubtful but worth a shot.

or come back in a year or two and it might be on the ground.

A few years back...before everybody had a camera in their pocket 24/7, (so no pics proof) my brother had a 6' long log about 20" diam, it had a perfectly centered 4" hole the whole way down through it...he filled a peanut butter jar (plastic) with tannerite and stuffed it down the hole.
It blew the log into almost perfect quarters...one of which landed about 100' to the right, the other the same distance to the left! It was a blast to watch!

I’m trying to do some research on how much tannerite I need. The Hackberry is only about 8 inches diameter. I was thinking a gallon jug.... lol, that might be too much. My house is 100 yards away, no projectiles! There must be some country boys on this forum who know the right measurement?

YouTube is covered with info. I have never messed with it personally but my friends buy it like 12 packs of beer.

Ok, I’ve settled one 1 one pound container after I’ve carved a little notch in the hackberry. My only worry is the hackberry will want to fall back towards the oak that’s leaning against it. I would hope the weight of the oak would offset the blast from the front and both would still fall forwards. Any thoughts on my physics? I’m a red neck banker but never tried this.

The oak weight should take over from what I see. Gravity will take over after the show.

Cut a shallow notch in the hackberry in the direction of fall.

Just got the OK from my only neighbor with a chicken coop close by. I told him I’d chase them down like Rocky Balboa if any escape. The only person who hasn’t cleared this epic Thanksgiving day event...yes, doing it Thursday..is my wife. I might just mumble what I’m doing when I walk by. If she doesn’t jump up and say bad things, then I know I’m clear :). Whoooooood!
