I would like to go up to Maine sometime. It sure is beautiful. I would love to live in a cabin just like yours.

The guys did that off ladders, every 3' sheet they'd move over. At the top, he sat on a pillow and screwed the cap down as he skootched along.
    Thanx Dex.

First spring trip for the year. Road was a little soft on the hill but OK. Really enjoyed being back on the porch. Here's some pics ...

Do you get black flies or mosquitoes?

Oh yeah, and my mowing was doing a great job of waking the blackflies up... :hair: But, BFs and skeeters aren't the worst up there. We call em 3 point flys, deer flys, copperheads, etc... from July thru August they'll make ya nuts. They are as thick as BFs some days but the second they land on ya they take a chunk of ya. We think they like BW Off cause it doesn't even touch em. Not fun. We go on windy days... ;)

Hay, Stinny. Don't scare them off. Bad enough with all the bear stories that go around.
Ya, we have bugs, but we have moderate temps, good food and lots of wide open views. image.jpg

:popcorn:Stinny. First, very, very nice place. Second, this will sound funny to you but bare with me for a minute. We have real problems with bugs at our camp and land as well. The horse flies and deer flies can be enough to drive you inside. A couple years back, before my wife and I bought it, my brother tried something for the hell of it. He took some big fly traps and hung them from four post he stood in the four corners of his truck bed. Just made them from some 2x2 I think. He also had some other kind of traps, sticky stuff, can't remember what they were, that he put on his mirrors. The flies went to the mirrors of his truck like they go to the ears on a large animal. Mirror casings are black and they always seem to go to that area when you are driving down the road. Anywho, he drove up and down the road slowly a whole bunch of times, his traps were loaded with flies. Deer flies mostly, because seem to be the most prevalent ones depending on time of year, but also horse flies. We could not believe how many flies he caught. So I think I am going to do that this year again as well. It did make a difference. A noticeable one.

:popcorn:So if you are going up to spend any amount of time there you might try that near your camp as well as hanging some in the trees. They have different colored ones as well. Seems like some of the ones he had on his truck were blue? If I remember right.

:popcorn:Third. Very, very nice place you have there.

Ugh. We don't get black flies here, but we the skeeters pretty thick at night, and the occasional deer fly during the day. Nasty buggers...mowing along without a shirt on, and then get bit in the middle of my back when I wasn't expecting it. Almost as bad as being stung by something. The curvy stripes left over in the lawn after I tried to kill the offending fly make it look like I was drunk and mowing...:drunk:

Thanks Gas. I'll have to try that with those dammed flys. They do just what you're talking about too, on the drive in going slow they're all over the truck (black) near the mirrors.
