Trick would be cutting to a uniform length and not hitting the sawbuck or the ratchet straps. Gaahh!

I think my best bet is just to cut small quantities at a time, and to enlist my husband as a log feeder.

I had an idea to use a log rack but it didn't really work out. But anyway, I cut about as much as I want to split. IMG_20191119_5353.jpg

That's a good start. Although, if that's a day's work, I don't have enough of WeldrDave's wood to keep me busy all winter. Gotta hoard more! aviary-image-1574190848627.jpeg

Good morning everyone! One more dank day, then the sun comes back! I'm thinking about a trip to Winchester today, so I can spend the nice days in my yard.
I'm also kind of excited about the possibility of getting wood from chipdrop.

Having that oak dropped in the yard in September was so much easier than car hoarding. If I do get a log drop, most likely it will be more red oak, since that and white pine are the most common trees around here. It could be silver or red maple too. Playing the wood lottery...
    Have a great day all!

We have had nothing but dark and dank days for most of the month. The local people are keeping track of the number of days we have above, below, or right on normal highs. So far this month we have had 2 days of normal high temps and the rest have been below normal. Cloudy, fog and drizzle have been the norm the past few days. We might be above normal today but NO SUN:headbang::headbang: We may get close to an inch of rain in the next 24 hours. At least we don't have to shovel that:yes:

10755.jpeg First time using this trencher with tracks... really liked it, especially when hitting roots and very small stumps, doesn't jump around, dug up several.

    Good morning.

No "wooding" today. Packing up for our drive to Southport NC. Heading out in the morning for an extended Thanksgiving visit.

Good morning everyone. It's nice to see the sun again. I'll unload the 12 rounds of sugar maple I picked up yesterday, get them split, and shuffle around some oak to make room for them on a rack. Fun day!
It feels like a Saturday because my husband is home from work, nursing a technical cold but really practicing for retirement. Maybe he can spot me on the roof, I need to get up there and push some pine needles off. Yes, I'll be careful!
    Have a great day everyone.

Sounds like a fun day. Don't take any flying lessons today...
The fall ain't bad, it's the sudden stop at the end that's painful.
