A local dealer has the whole line of northern warmth pellets. I was wondering if the $400 a ton was worth it. I have been looking and that seems to be the going rate for those (purple bag).

Only if your stove can translate the additional BTUs of heat -> into warmth into the home through the stove's Heat Exchanger.

Otherwise, those excess BTUs are going out the venting. They are a nice pellet to burn in the coldest (- degree F) days of winter. ... Not a 'shoulder season' pellet.

Don't get me wrong - they are nice pellets. Whether the extra BTUs / and lower ash of Douglas Fir justify the $$$, is something only you can determine.

Spruce Pointe, LaCrete, North Country, and AWF White Pine have all burned well here.

Suggest 3-5 bags of each / "try before you buy" ... before committing to tonnage.

Personally... I'm looking at the prices of the other brands, and feel
those are higher priced, relative to the Douglas Fir price..
DF's are $65 dollars more than North Country
Around here, DF's are around $100 more..
I think most of those brands are high, making all of them higher than
many pay, in a different geographical area...
So I compare how much more you pay for the DF's.
LaCrete there are $320... here they are $285.

Tell me about it. That’s all I can get here in the capital district area of ny. Well I’m a half hour south of Albany but I mean my dad just got a ton of dry creek from another local place and they were $299 a ton

I agree. 300.00 for dry creek? 325 for hamers? If that is what i would have to pay for those might as well go another 75.00 and get supreme firs.

That’s kinda what I was thinking. Almost everyone around me is charging 300 for dry creek. I mean there’s another place that has dry creek and cubex for $289 a ton but idk how cubex burns. Guess they used to be good but heard they kinda went down hill.

Think they cost the same in both places. Willis did the HD special buy 6 tons and pay $219 each deal.

Prices do suck but what the man has a choice of personally I would go with Matra as they are wicked low ash and crank out some serious heat for $75 less than the Doug Firs. Have never tried the AWF hardwoods but their softwoods I loved.

pricing seems a bit high, but the shipping from Upton, MA to Upstate NY would be a bit more for your retailer than it is for me.....we get $379/ton for them, and they do sell well. Looking at the NEWP pricing, and guessing they are fairly close (?) to Schuyler or Deposit, NY, the pricing isnt super bad, but a tad high.....
