Believe it or not Sean, that is not normal for us, or should I say it is below the average. It is normal for us to get stretches of these temperatures in November but it is also normal to get some rather warm temperatures from time to time. I remember a few years ago on opening day of rifle season (Nov 15) we had 52 degrees. At the end of the season we had high temperatures around 20. Yet, I also remember one year getting a foot of snow during the night before opening day. Tough hunting then for sure as snow clung to everything so you could not see much in the woods except white. All in all, we do not get as cold as you do but in northern parts of the state they do. Also I just read an article where there is a big area in the UP that has received over 6' of snow so far this fall. That makes one wonder what the winter's total will be like. Fortunately we are not in a deep snow area where we live now.
Shoveled snow and it is the perfect snowman/snowball stuff for kids. Actually, too wet as their clothes would be soaking wet!
Cold, damp and windy here on Long Island last few days. My insert has been cranking 54 hours straight. Put a good dent in one of my stacked rows
Good Morning to all. We got a light dusting of the white gold last night. It's 32* here now, and Cherry is working it's usual magic in the just lit stove. Freezing rain and drizzle forecast for this AM.
29 out, 75 in, still burning coals after a 7 pm load of mixed hardwood. Freezing rain on tap for today.
26 outside/67 inside - burning small beech splits - forecast is rain/freezing rain - enjoying a coffee and a slice of apple pie
Current temp 4°F stove kept the place warm all night, time for a reload, warming to about freezing mark today with a mess of snow, sleet, and freezing rain on its way through tomorrow.
Wow. Only got down to 32 overnight. Lost a lot of snow the last couple days and expect to lose it all in the next few days. 40 predicted today.
Did not load the stove this morning, got up to 52 and sunny. House is 74. Just shoveled all the ashes out and have the door hanging open to cool the firebox as I have to drop the shield as I noticed last night the wire cat shield/screen came loose. If it cools enough to fix yet tonight which I think it should I will build an overnight fire.
20F this morning with the bubbling goo burning. I let the Wood Gun go out last night so I can clean it and the chimney this morning.
25f this morning but there was a mist or light rain that coated everything. Highways specifically. I'm heading out before the salt trucks this morning.
36 and 76 on last nights light load. Stayed right around freezing all night so pretty mild. Looks like a mild stretch finally for the next week. It’s been way too cold for November.
It's 34* here, and 58* inside before lighting of with Spruce & Cherry, now it's up to 60* and warming up quickly in my house.
