Got this and two similar ones when the shopko stores were closing. Seems like they should make good self feeding bins to keep smaller diameter shorts and nuggets in. I got a plan for a flip up top cover if it acts like it’ll work. What do you think
I think you are on to something.. you might need something to plug up the openings a bit so you can stack it to the top. I wish I had something similar, my chunks are getting out of control, and no spare dog crates. I saw some free chicken wire that I didn’t jump on, but no way it would have looked as nice.
It looks like it's working right now! Great find, especially three of them! Here's the silo HolsatiaRedneck built! You could do something similar with fencing, and maybe some t-posts.
Nice!! I think that’ll work out just fine for shorts and uglies. Just a guess but I’d say too much long stuff will jam it up. Shorts should run through pretty good. Heck I might put one of those right next to the woodstove
It certainly is worth a try. Please let us know after using it for a while just how good or bad it does. Like jo191145 I could picture some pieces getting hung up and not wanting to fall.
its worth a shot. I can see chunks compressing and being a B&%#H to get out. But if it works simple and great repurpose. I would try smaller chunks??? Can you do a horizontal partition (some 1x4 or 2x4's) halfway to lessen the compression? Pull those out when the bottom is empty like a trap door? I have maybe 5 cord of nuggets and am so tired of them i leave them behind after a cutting a roadside scrounge when i can.
If she binds up on you alot a sheet of plywood or even paneling zip tied to the inside of the back wall should suffice as a solid sliding surface to keep things moving I think that’s an awesome score LOL An ugly dispenser. Where else are you going to see an ugly dispenser but right here? LOL
