Only place I found to buy it was Homedepot.
Homedepot online order, ... not ship to Alaska
Can place a special order at the HD in store desk, they
can get it shipped on the barge to Alaska, ( 4-6 weeks)
    ,...BUT...
I have to pay the state of Washington 10% sales tax.
    $41
    (not happening, cost & principle)
Not gonna pay Washington's tax for a saw bought & used in Alaska.
    ....
Then I thought, I get a 10% military veterans discount . Figured my
Veterans get 10% would pay tax.... but no discount on online orders.
But I have to go to the store to "special order" , so it's not an online order,
Guy says, still no military discount.

I do not blame you. There are no chainsaw stores in Anchorage. I would think that chainsaws would be big business in Alaska.

That's messed up. You'd think that it would be much easier to get a saw in anchorage.

Not sure if can ship/mail a chain saw
    to Alaska
    At a reasonable price anyway.
May need to be on a barge.
    Not ship by air ?
Checked, can’t take one in airline baggage.

No telling what might happen between now and then. If you want it, go get it.

Why being so brand loyal? Stihl and Husqvarna make great equipment too. Get the tool that is the least hassle. I never considered Echo products as something I would look at, until reading posts from users here. Wouldn’t hesitate now.

Hang in there Dave. I'm sure you'll get a good one and you have lots of time before you need it next fall.

Be in SoCal , can look there, but near 10% tx there too.
Plus can’t take as baggage. Shipping $$ ?? an issue.

I send my saws outside to have them ported, and never has a issue. I have bought saws from here on FHC. All shipped through the post office. The 50-60 cc saws are 40ish, and 70-80 cc are $65.

I do all my shopping in a tax free state, NH. Not sure if shipping would be worth it from here, bought all my Echo's at the depot

Most places advertise they are pro Veterans. Once you explore it more you find out the details are not as friendly.
    Thank you for your service.

American Airlines will let you check a new chainsaw. Time to plan a trip.

    Notes

You can only travel with gasoline-powered tools in your checked bags if they are:

    • New or unused
    • In the original packaging (which must be in good condition)
