Cleaning with ashes can work nicely especially if there is anything difficult to clean. However, the best way we've found is to just take a piece of newspaper and dampen it. Don't soak it, just dampen it. Just barely touch that on some dry ashes and wipe the glass. You'll also need to use clear water then to complete the task.

Snow here but won't get much. Just enough to cover the ground right now. Wisconsin got most of it and it peters out as it comes across the pond.

I appreciate the Birthday wishes from all of you. To celebrate, I caught a cold today. This getting older stuff is not as fun as they said it would be. I’d hate to think what it would be like if I wasn’t retired.

You're right. But, my glass had evidence of an air leak and darkening along the glass. It was my fault for letting it go that far. I am still learning all of this stuff.

I wish I still had my $100 earth stove. That thing was foolproof. Such is life, I guess.

Kiddo and hubby clogged the airwash vents on our pellet stove from the get go (we do not have glass on our remaining old woodstove). I cleaned them out and they worked a bit better, but choose battles, kiddo loves cleaning the glass and they squirt too much cleaner, so they were clogged again and so remain. I'm not used to the flame anyway, it was kind of startling from the get go. Kudos to you for fixing it :)

Sorry Horkn , I caught a doosey in early/mid Oct, holy cow did not know a body could make so much snot. Still have part of the cough left. Wonder if someone out here caught the same one and flew to WI or vice verse.
