My buddy Niki was lamenting her current firewood situation. She has a little parlor stove in her, wait for it... parlor. It doesn't burn much. I told her she could come up and cut some deadfall locust I had spotted on my hill and she took me up on the offer last weekend. She'd never run a saw before, which surprised me, her having grown up deep in the woods with wood heat. So we fixed that... Look at the smile! You'll notice she's stylishly sporting a black and orange ensemble as Halloween was right around the corner. Most of the leaders that were off the ground went home with her. Most of what you can see below are splits from the butt log.
Covered with moss ? Guessing it will need some seasoning time ? .... Safety first Hard hat, face shield, hearing protection Chaps, gloves (Maybe add some work boots )
Believe it or not, the dead standing locust around here is ready to burn when the bark falls off it. If the tree falls, anything not in contact with ground is good to go. Already burned a couple chunks to be sure, they went right up. Surely some seasoning can only improve the situation though.
Good on ya for sharing the love! Niki looks like she is having a blast running the saw. Sure wouldn't mind if she joined us here and offered up a few pics of the parlor stove.
Awesome way to be a good neighbor! Plus you practiced Safety! ....but.....where are the pictures of the parlor stove????
