Thanks. It was a lot of work. When I moved into this house, the fireplace opening was much smaller and the fireplace breast was visual only. There was no evidence of a chimney or flu ever existing since the house was built in 1884. I think it was built with the intention of adding on a chimney later and it just never happened. I had the opening enlarged specifically the with Englander NC-30 measurements in mind and installed an external chimney up the the side of the house. The alcove is lined with micore behind, on the sides and above the stove. This makes so the heat has nowhere to go but out through the alcove opening. I have an upgraded blower on the stove, and it pumps out enough heat to keep my 2300 sq. ft 1884 practically un-insulated home nice and toasty all winter long. The layout of my house lends itself nicely to circulated the warm air. The upstairs of the house is nice and toasty when we sleep.
Great job on the stack. What brand of pipe did you use? I used the Dura-Vent brand, Dura-Plus triple wall chimney pipe and Dura Vent double wall stove pipe
Same stack as you. Very happy with it so far. Very little Durva Vent, mine 90's and exits my house pretty close to the stove to meet clearance requirements.
