More Asplundh cutting right up the street from me. Some nice big knot free trunks. I know ive said ill never take pine but this is like waving the proverbial carrot in front of the horses mouth. Im trying to teach my friend (one who im building lean to for) the ways of the FHC as i have learned. Maybe ill cut a truck full and give it to him? Shoulder season next Fall??? Some nice wood for sure. The big trunks are over 24" diameter.
Take anything that's not too knotty. It's a pain to split with a lot of knots, even with a hyd. splitter.
papadave is correct i'd focus on that big stem. Everything to the left would be good as a chopping block because your not going to split it easily.
What kind of pine is that? I can see how that big trunk could make good firewood; it looks much more firewoody than our loblolly and shortleaf pine we have here.
I'm still burning pine we had cut on our VT property 4 years ago. Great to mix with some hardwoods during shoulder season. I've actually got a split in the stove now! I'm also using the pine for all my kindling.
Brad’s probably almost out of wood at this point in the burning season so I’d be shocked if he didn’t jump on this
I see some nice beams and live edge planks laying there! Get an Alaskan Mill, you'll love it for those logs!
I often think about this when I see a trunk some 6-10 feet long. Not always consistent but thinking about slabs, there’s definitely some kinda nostalgia with live edge.
I've done quite a bit of live edge slabs the past month and literally don't even get them home before people take them off my hands.....I can't make them fast enough.....
One of the campgrounds we stayed at over the Summer had it on one of the buildings. I kept admiring it.
