At last I got to do some splitting today. Some of this ash was cut and bucked 2 years ago but I couldn't get it off the hill for too many reasons to list. There is probably 10x that much still up there but with 3 to 4" of rain coming Saturday it will have to set there a bit longer. I don't know how much is in those 2 piles and the bit I stacked; at least a bunch and maybe a bunch and a half. Another truck load of rounds to split tomorrow morning then try to get it stacked before Saturday's rainstorm.
Lookin good RB! Keep up the great work! Do you drape a tarp over the stacks with the 2x4 running down its top length? I thought i was the only one who stacked tall!
I've never top covered. I bring a couple cord up in late September and put it on my covered front porch. What ever moisture is on/in the wood dries out with the direct sun and wind before my first fire. I've yet to have a problem with moisture or rot. Tip overs from stacking 8' high; that's a whole different story! My new stacks don't get quite as high.
this was my tallest stack at 7+ ft. all ash and a few red maple. Pic from February. Nice day up here as well. Did some firewood making myself.
