Got a text the other day from a number I didn't recognize - "do you still take wood?" So being a good hoarder, I said sure! Turns out it was a guy I had gotten some willow from off CL a few years back. Running an OWB then, I'd take anything, and this was convenient; I picked up a load, and he brought the rest on a trailer. OWB ate it happily. This time he had a couple oak limbs come down, which knocked over a pine or two also. I went over to check it out (in company car, no scrounging) and we haggled out that I would take the pine if he delivered the oak too. No complaints here, and I've got first dibs on the rest of the tree when his wife makes him take it down. Pictured is the first of two loads dropped off so far, third one hopefully to come. These were some good sized limbs! There is some sugar stacked up with the oak that I'd been working on. I figure about a cord once it's said and done - not too bad a scrounge, free and delivered is best! I'm especially excited because I rarely see red oak around here.
I've started splitting and stacked it double row with plenty of room between in full sun and wind along with some sugar maple and black locust I've been working up, hoping to not need it until at least two winters out. By then it should be primo!
Look at all of that unsplit happiness in the back ground of the second picture!!!! Nice score!! Even better delivered!!
