Managed to get out and do a couple loads from the field into the shed today before the rain started. Left the key on the tractor, and now the dang thing doesn't want to start. Put the charger on it, and got it to start once. Now, nothing. So, I then went out to split some Maple and Oak. Got a very minor amount of that done. What a day. Of course, as soon as I get everything put away,....the rain stopped.
Kinda hoping this blows over. I'll be back at it tomorrow, unless it clears some soon. I guess you know about chit happenin'. How ya' feeling today?
Real chitty this morning. Then somewhat ok to pull the busted up fender off. Then hurt, slept, now thinking of putting new fender on. Lol
I know how you feel... I got part of the wall done then ran out of boards then found some and finished. Of course the air is so thick I can't paint because rain is on the way so now I have to tarp it all up. I climbed up on the garage roof ( no easy feet ) tarred the leak and the damm ladder fell so I had to climb down the back on to the top of a wood pile and then down. Then crawl back up to get the tar and putty knife down. I hate today...
... saved by the woodpile ... OMG ... at least you're leading us by example Pallet Man... ... if I'd done that, I never would have thought to stack close enough so I could use it to get off the roof. But, I'm taking notes so... Oh yeah... a "bad" day is when the ladder falls, and you're on it.
Somehow it just seems to be very easy relating to Dave and Pete's problems. Some days go that way. Then they sometimes even get worse.
Hey Moe! Sounds like you're having my kind of day, Pete. So, got the tractor going again, got another load and brought it up to the shed to unload (I left the thing running again while loading), and made the mistake of turning the key to the off position.....again. Won't start......again. There's always tomorrow.
You've prolly already pulled the battery attach leads and cleaned the h*ll out of em, but after all the damp weather, I wonder if it's got enough of a good connection to charge while it's running, and, obviously, maybe same prob during the start-up? Terminal connections drive me nuts all the time. It's almost always corrosion with mine anyway.
Everyone has those, less than perfect days. Those are good learning days Trick is to have lots more great days and remember them. Remember. "Every day you are here is a good day ! Some are just better than others "
Ha! Petered out... Unfortunately they are calling for rain from 7pm on for us. It will be on and of through Wednesday.
Yeah, the rain didn't last.....not even sure I'd call it rain. More of a rain delay, since I went back out and did some more. Getting cloudy again.
The terminals look good, but I may pull the battery and do that. I'll probably hook the charger to it overnight.
Might be that it is time for a new battery. You getting a good charge when it's running ? I pull batts on unused stuff & keep in the shop thru winter, charge a couple times. Even doing that, I get 2, maybe 3 years out of the small tractor & ATV batteries. Winter , no kept at full charge all year, & little usage is tough on lead acid batts. Seems it's always something.
I just replaced this one last year. It was running fine until today, then just pooed the bed. When I put the charger on it, it'll sometimes start, but then when doing a restart......well, no restart. No click...nothin'. Annoying. I put the tractor in the shed for the night. Maybe it just needs a good rest.
Hope you don't have the bugs there PD. I was a bit north of you this weekend (near Hammond Bay) helping a friend get their summer place ready. I thought I was going to get carried away by the black fly and midge invasions. Deep Woods Off didn't slow them down, but a little two stroke exhaust seemed to give a few minutes of reprieve.
No click would have me wondering about a bad starter solinoid, key switch might be bad (I wouldn't think as likely), battery terminal needs cleaning if the battery is still good. It's always possible the connection at the battery didn't let the engine charge while you were using it but, if you use a charger to keep it up, dunno. Solinoids can stick when they get tired, so... Hope you figure it out. Drives me crazy when I can't count on the gear doing what it's supposed to.
