(Long Story) Last year I renovated one of our bathrooms the kids mainly use. One of the last pieces to go in was a Vanity. We found one we liked on HD Website and used our 10% off coupon. They delivered it and the body of it was scratched and damaged. Asked if I could keep just the sink top as amazingly it was not broken and resend just the vanity body, but I had to ship the entire thing back. Reorder it and they gave us another 10% off, ok great! 3-4 weeks go by and they deliver another one. This one looks like a grizzly bear tore into it, am not even sure WHY the delivery guys would even take this thing off the truck. Box was shredded, sink was busted to pieces and the body was heavily damaged. Wife calls HD, they give us another 10% off, ok so we re-order again, third time's a charm, right? 3-4 weeks go by no update on delivery so my wife calls. Sorry but we seemed to have losted the shipment we cannot track it . She calls HD again, at this point she has been talking to the same customer support person who to their credit has been very accommodating. Offers another 10% off, plus a $200 GC to HD and white glove delivery service. After pondering it, we decided what the hec we waiting this long so we re-order. 2 weeks go by and we get a phone call, sorry but we seemed to have losted the shipment and the unit is now back ordered . You gotta be chiting me, again? Is this company that dysfunctional? Wife calls, of course the women we've been dealing with is just as shocked and sorry as we are. Offers to give us another vanity of our choosing for FREE and offers us another GC worth $500. So in total $700 in GCs to HD, free vanity and white glove delivery. How could we turn that down, we pick out another vanity which is $500 more then our original vanity cost. 3-4 weeks go by and its delivered yesterday, and I am sure you can guess what happened next, of course it's broken . I swear am not making this up! So I emphatically told my wife in no way shape or form am I dealing with them, they can give me a free island at this point, but they can go scratch and am taking my business elsewhere. I know I am possibly turning down a free vanity but what is something free if they cannot give me a product in one piece? 5 orders and 5 failures I have never seen such a disgraceful and dysfunctional company. Sure HD is great to go buy a light bulb, grass seed, etc.. but ordering something like a vanity is a disgrace. Not to mention how much money they've wasted on losing and delivering me broken vanities. Am speechless!!
Wow, that is truly awful. And makes no sense. Why are busted vanities going AWOL and circling the globe?
A prime example of why we need to deal locally and not multi-national corporations who do not know whether they are punched, bored or screwed. Too many times we forsake customer service in hopes of saving a few $$$$$$$.
This truely is a hilarious story, but only cause it isn't me. I'd be hot, especially since it sounds like you have a bathroom without a vanity at this point for months. I hope you didn't tear the old on out iii Sent from my moto g(7) using Tapatalk
Am furious but at this point I gotta laugh. Keep thinking am I nuts for passing up a possible free vanity but I am so irate that I don't care about the $$ right now. The bathroom is completely finished, new toilet, tub, tile shower, floors, etc... Kids take baths and use it but just no sink/vanity so they use ours in our bedroom for now. It's not a terrible inconvenience but it's getting really really old especially the toothpaste blobs left in the sink, lol!!!
I wouldn't have HD deliver it. I think that is the main problem here. Pick it up at store. Get one that is in stock, then pocket the rest of the money for the next project.
It reminds me of my husband's experience ordering metal shelving racks on wheels from Wayfair. He ordered some, and a few were bent. Wayfair didn't want them back, and shipped replacements. Some of those were bent, lather, rinse, repeat. Husband wound up with more racks than he wanted, because he used undamaged parts to cobble together new racks. Turns out this is their business model, ship what you've got and let the customer sort it out.
They don't carry this size in the store double sink or I would have done that long ago. I am stuck with ordering from the website. Same thing happened to me with wayfair, I think my wife ordered a metal mailbox, it came dented they said keep it and sent a new one.
Chuck, it is understandable how you would be really put out with the lack of service and poor quality. However, dollars are dollars. How about simply going back at them and asking for all of your money back and then go shopping.
Thanks Dennis, we did get all our money back but we just kept getting sucked back into it with the free vanity and the gift cards. But at this point no matter how attractive a free vanity is I have to move on. My wife wants to hang on because the thought of spending $1,000 + is hard after its offered to you for free. But look am ahead, I got $700 in gift cards from them so enough is enough.
Chuck, I've had similar with Sears and Lowes, except I did not get gift cards or compensation, thrilled you did. Sears was a stand up freezer for the garage. Not delivered, customer service reordered, add 2 weeks (4 weeks after inital order) later add 2 more weeks one showed up, and then a second unit they had to come pic up while I waited over a month for refund on my credit card. (they only deliver out here every other Thursday). Lowe's was a clothes washing machine, 6 weeks from ordering the unit, 3 reorders via customer service before it arrived though they had plenty stock of that unit. That said I am grateful the few places that do deliver out her do it, closest home improvement or appliance store is 200mi round trip.
Fact; I have NEVER received an order of cabinets from either Lowes or HD that did not have a damaged cabinet. The delivery guys like to drop them on the corners instead of putting them down gently. I have spoken to multiple managers about this. Standard answer I'll give you 10 % off. I finally explained to one manager who I really like and I thought would understand, people do not want 10% off they want their product undamaged. Nope didn't get it.
I would buy a vanity somewhere else and install it. Keep going with the HD vanity and gift cards, when you finally get an HD good vanity sell it on Craigslist cheap and quick. Then go to HD and buy top of the line Milwaukee or Dewalt cordless set and pocket the rest of the dough.
I would see how much of a gift card you can get out of them this time! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
