Today was splitting some birch, & a 6 month old moose calf came by.
I'm tossing split, splitter running, it tastes some raspberry bushes .
Never saw momma, but betting she's nearby. ??
    IMG_4876.jpeg IMG_4886.jpeg

Something spooked it, it headed back the direction it came from,
    maybe momma yelled ?

20181008_135653.jpg Right behind my processing area....she is lucky I wasn't in the mood or ready to process a deer. She was there with 5 others about 15 feet behind me while I was running the splitter.

We often see deer when working in the wood. Squirrels of course and all types of birds (winter birds).

Seeing that fawn Pricey106 posted made me think about last evening while I was hunting. I had one like that at less than 20 feet. She was a bit curious. I think it is one of the two that I've gotten close to all summer.

One of the herd of 6 that hang around my property. Herd keeps getting bigger every year.cant hunt them here because its an urban area. And at least 2 people in the neighborhood feed them. Dam garden eaters are too fast for the dog

Had some deer visit my persimmon tree last time the girls were helping. We tended to our activity and she had a morning snack.

These are all way more impressive than the chipmunk I usually see when out at my woodshed, or the vole I have seen the last two days while stacking. They move too fast for me to get pics! However, I did have a large bald eagle circle overhead a few times this afternoon while stacking. That was very cool. It was fairly low. By the time I got my phone out for a video it had gone higher. Hawks are a regular sight in the neighborhood but not the eagles. I’ve only ever seen them on the other side of town.

Channel 8 news the other night had a bald eagle that was run over on route 8? Mentioned tonight it had to be euthanized. Too badly injured. Seen plenty of hawks down here to but no eagle saewoody
