Nice looking stack. You've found the system it took me years to figure out, right down to cribbing the end against the upright. Wish I had some plastic pallets. I am always amused by the scramble in the fall to get this winter's wood in. It's a continuous, year 'round process. Hoard on!
I just noticed that. One end is and the other isnt? Any significance to doing that if there is already and upright?
Sandhillbilly as others have said you have done a fine job. That is a very nice stack of BTU's, and it looks like the trailer is full of future BTU's. Keep at, slow and steady wins the hoarding race.
Thanks for asking buZZsaw BRAD. 2 weeks yesterday. Been to the legalized pill pusher twice. 2 rounds of antibiotics. Working my paying job has me on my feet for 8-9 hours on concrete, so that has been a challenge. Feeling much better last couple of days, and I am starting to get back after it.
This was vertical when I stacked it. Don't know if the tee posts will survive. Cribbing the ends with an upright is much easier and less critical than without.
Only did the one end as an experiment. Just a little something I learned about here. Turns out most of my wood don’t split uniformly enuf. That was a large ash trunk & with practice it would work pretty well. But I get mostly elm and it ain’t happening with that. Also seemed to take quite a bit longer. Looks cool though & my hat is off to those who do it regularly
I used to but with all the wood i get i use pallets for the ends. I did one yesterday and it collapsed when i was nearing the the end. I stack and crib at the same time. I then went and got a pallet and restacked!
It looks great Sandhillbilly , the most important thing is not how it looks but making sure your firewood is seasoned.
These were stacked 2 years ago...knock on wood....never had a fall over. Before i CSS n burnt my own...i would go upstate to my bil brother...he edujacated me on his technic....
as usual i was in a hurry. Haste makes waste as my mother used to say. Nice looking stacks btw if i hadnt complimented you already...i forget
I hear ya, I was pretty happy to have this winter's wood CSS by July this year! Very doable for me, since I'm a pine guy. Most of my stack is sitting at 10% MC right now.
