Omg, i just had to say something about alot of these you tube people using saws. Im no expert by no means but when people are muscling saws into the cut and rocking it back and forth it drives me nuts. Left arm always ( cant kickback in your face if its always locked) locked and let the saw cut, if you have to apply that much pressure and rocking back and forth doing a crazy dance then you might as well be using a hand saw. Sharpen the saw or get a new chain. Ok i feel better now, Thanks :headbang::hair:

I think sometimes the worst thing they put on saws are the bucking spikes they give the Knuckleheads the leverage point to really make that bar burn with the dull chain:jaw:

After a while they will sell the saw on Craigslist as lightly used......still smoke pouring off the chain

I hear you on that. I always say "can you get a good shave with a dull razor"? to them.
Watched a neighbor years back struggling with his saw. It was kicking out powder dust in the cut. I then sharpened it for him and later showed him how to sharpen. He was kind of one of those "i know everything and cant be told"!
I would consider you an expert with saws Woodwhore . Many years experience???

I don't see a big problem with it. With a sharp chain, and a good saw, you aren't going to hurt anything. Having said that, I'm sure that there are exceptions to every rule. Just my opinion. YMMV...

Youtube can be a time suck just like facebook.
Sometimes I don't think it's worth weeding through all the ad generating worthless crap to find anything of value.

Some of the chain sharpening videos are annoying also. I like hotsaws 101, and buckin Billy Ray. I love the sound of the old maccollochs.

Yet, try to tell some of the dummys what to do and how to do usually falls on deaf ears. Sometimes it pays to look the other way.

Im learning everyday, you stop learning in the woods i feel thats when you get hurt like i said im no expert. Iv been going hard with saws for 15 years, hand filing for 10. I learned alot from old pros over the years and extremely grateful to the guys that were hard on me in the field and drilling safety into my head. I learned from a logger that cut his first tree when he was 12. He kicked my azz everyday. It was some of the best times of my life, hes a good friend of mine still and would do anything for me. Hes even offered to send a couple of my daughters x boyfriends through his chipper  :rofl:  I dont think hes kidding either

His name isnt Richard Crafts is it? Google it!
True we are always learning. Experience is the best IMO, but learning from someone who has been there done that is excellent.

I hear you. Sometimes in the cutting area,
The sound of the high RPM, for what seemed like a minute to make one cut, drives me nuts,
I want to go over & sharpen their chain.
    ...
The distinct sound of a saw, under load , cutting with a sharp chain is sweet.

Yes, when you have to “saw” with your chain saw that’s a sure sign sharpening is long overdue. ;)

Are you people trying to say I don’t need the 36” bar to cut through a 16” tree?

Well that just changes everything. And just how long were you people going to keep this little secret under wraps?
And while we’re at it what’s that silly stuttering pully rope for?
