My neighbor had some trimming done to this huge oak tree. This limb is 16” - 17” in diameter. I grabbed some today and I will grab more tomorrow. I had to noodle the big rounds. They wouldn’t pop with the Fiskars. The grain appears to be somewhat twisted. This tree is in the woods in back of the house. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Gotta love that Connecticut red oak. The best around! Cant get more convenient than that! Nice score sir!
there’s some really beautiful figured oak in parts of the tree. Problem is the open grain of red oak isn’t conducive to utilizing it for the projects it would be well suited for. I’ve run some splits through the planer years ago just to see it in one dimension. Nice!!
Got the rest today. Look at the size of this tree and what is this curl in the grain. I had to use wedges. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Thats some nice stuff. Amazing old growth red oak! Did that tree cross polinate with a redwood or something?!!! What was the yield for the score ThomH123 ?
I just got a big limb. Yield a little under 1/2 cord. Amazing tree. Tomorrow I will try to count the growth rings on the limb. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
