Oddly enough, hot water freezes faster than water that is cold. Can hot water freeze faster than cold water?
OP, Makes sense I was is a pi$$ing match with two guys on a Facebook firewood sellers forum. The were justifying that one year old logs that were just split were being sold 2 days later as "seasoned" wood. They were not impressed when I called them out for being DISHONEST and they giving honest sellers a bad name.
Hmm...thinking about this a bit more...every time I see a house burning, there are guys there squirting water on it...maybe there is something to this?!
Woodwhore Tell him that if washing it does the trick, then why not overdo it? Pressure washer! Anything worth doing should be worth overdoing, eh?
That's only for if you are trying to "season" the wood to use this year...kinda like a wood microwave
Umm. I’ve heard of woodturners sinking burls into ponds in an effort to reduce checking while the wood cures or stabilizes. You could call it seasoning in a way. It was a lot of years ago. I don’t recall the specific claims made by these people. It obviously slows the drying process greatly. Personally I don’t think there’s anything gained. Eventually it needs to come out and be subjected to a normal environment. Just passing along something I’ve heard done. Has no bearing on firewood but jogged a memory......maybe this guy read the same thing and somehow convoluted it into his reality?
Funny, I have been thinking lately of asking a question on this issue but then thought better of it and stopped myself knowing the ridicule that would inevitably follow. But obviously you didn’t ask him why or you would have told us his reason. So unless he is messing with you go ask him and tell us what he says. If he is for real, I have an idea what he will say. I won’t dare post it after reading all these comments though. Lol. Ya’ll would think I am crazy and I’d be forever banned from FWHC.
cmon spit it out. Every genius was ridiculed at one time or the other. I’ve had plenty of outside the box ideas in my life. Some work, some don’t, some I never try, most I forget before trying. I’m interested and even willing to put down my ridicule stick to hear it
