I loaded the stove with little chunkys...everytime I load up the woodbin, I load up 3 totes of shorts so I can use them up. I must say I like them. I see some guys tossing them away. Maybe I spend too much time with my firewood. I hate waste, so everything that comes onto my property gets burned either inside or at campfire cove.
I agree. My wife makes fun of the pieces I throw in the stacks sometimes. She likes to ask me if we're getting a hobbit stove. The way I look at it, it all makes heat so there's no sense in wasting anything.
If it wasn't for the chunky's I wouldn't have half my stacks in the backyard, okay, maybe 3/4 of my wood would be gone.
Chunks make up most of what I burn in October and November. I hate wasting wood so I try to find a time to burn it all.
Yes, chunks still burn and give heat and that is the end result we all look for. The only thing different I'd have done in the picture of the stove fire is that I always want the bark side up rather than down as it tends to make the fire better.
It's chunky monkey and fugly season here at my house. I have this one ash crotch that got stuck 3 times on my splitter the other day. I gave up on it, and it's mostly in tact with a few wedge marks on it. It's far too big to put in my stove, and realistically should be noodled once to make it a little easier to lift. Some day I'll bring that beast to my buddy's place for a Friday night camp fire. "Hold on a minute, let me get something from my truck". Lol
