Stove been going here most of the day. Probably will put more in it before we hit the sack as with the wind driving the cold the house temperature might tend to get a bit too cool for us.
41F here with a brisk west wind still. Didn't get much rain at least. Looks like a bit of a warm up over the weekend, then cooler again. Pine in the boiler.
I let the fire go out this am, but restarted it about an hour ago. 44° outside, 71° inside silver maple and ash in the stove. Outside of when it gets really cold, I'll pretty much be burning silver maple and ash this year. Unless I find some other wood like Siberian elm or Norway maple in with the higher BTU stuff, which I probably will.
46f right now with some strong winds up to 50 mph, the rain yesterday was unreal with that nor'Easter, about 4" of rain wasn't fun last night driving from work especially when you have morons on the road texting and driving
That much rain isn't fun at all. Add the wind along with the citidiots and its miserable! Hope you didn't have to drive after dark...?
People in the NE, you guys stay safe. Sounds like you are going to be getting real nasty weather the next couple of days. We have 40* with rain and wind.
48° with rain and wind. It rained hard last night and the wind will be building today. Yup, it’s getting colder. Just lit the first fire of the season.
Was 45F or so this morning, but with gusty winds all night sucking the warmth out of the house. First fire of the season was 4 splits of pine with misc uglies. Hope my pine and uglies will last for both the Fall and Spring shoulders.
We've been starting a fire in the stove in the mornings then letting it go out. House holds temperature pretty good but by the next morning we need a small fire again.
Good hard frost here this morning! Finally get the brush knocked down. Sunny & 50's to 60's next three days. Off to the cutting grounds! Pine keeping it warm.
House is hanging at 74/75 from last night's fire and today's sun . Have my kindling ready, probably light off about 10, supposed to be down to 34 overnight.
No fire tonight. House is holding at 70 from cooking and last night's fire. It got to about 60 today, and it will be in the upper 40's tonight. I need to sweep the chimney anyway before 24/7 burning season starts again. So the timing was good. I'll sweep the chimney tomorrow.
First fire tonight! House was 64 in my son's room this morning, and the house is around 69 when I got home. Last few days it's been mid 40s In The morning. Tomorrow our high is 57 so will probably do something in the morning as well. With another low temp in the morning it will need it after all these days. Had a pull over on The last few days in the morning. Sent from my moto g(7) using Tapatalk
39* s now....34*s once you get down in the valley....started with some gingko..then added some rock oak
Good Morning to all, 32 here with scattered frost, especially on the vehicles. Cool in the house so I lit the first fire of the season, so it begins. Burning Red Maple to get the temp up inside. Like Backwoods Savage mentioned a couple of days ago, we will just be burning morning fires for now.
