Hey Scotty, good score. Say what's the make of your splitter and are you happy with it? Does it split both ways? (no jokes, guys) :)

Trooper, its a Swisher 22 ton, yes it splits vertical and horizontal.

Its a simple, well-built machine. I bought it off a guy on Craigslist who used it TWICE, for $800.00! That was around 4 years ago and since then I've split around 90-100 cord with it, no problems whatsoever!

I think the original owner bought it at Home Depot........

Dang you don't use that thing do you.:p I've got the 34 ton version and love it too. But it's new compared to yours... I've probably got 25-30 cords through it.

I'll get a picture this weekend of the part of a cherry that's still standing (mother nature dropped most of it) some of the bark is gone, it looks like it has some curl in the wood.

Looks like I'll be cutting a couple cherry this winter too as they don't look to be in good shape. May as well cut them and mix with the ash.

Woody, save those crotches and "crooks" in the tree....that seems to be where most of the curl was in this trunk I processed.....

Slab 'em with your mini-mill and dry them out. Then, off to ebay they can go!

Since getting those 2 big p/u loads of cherry from my tree service contact in april 2012,I've rediscovered how wonderful that stuff is to smoke pork & beef with the scraps from milling. The 8-10 decent sized rounds I have left in the processing area don't have any smell left, but that changes a little when they're opened up or start burning.

I love cherry. My only problem with it is that I want to hang on to it to throw on my smoker. I use cherry on ribs and pork butt. Fantastic!
