In the market for new boots

    I've had my Rockies far too long, and they're about to go in the dumpster. I just need some shorter boots to wear around the property doing snow shoveling/plowing....maybe some winter firewood work.
    Was thinking of slip-ons, perhaps (I HATE tying shoes).
    Suggestions, comments, ideas (about boots)?

    Only slip on I can think of, would be some brand of muck boots. Heavy wool socks for cold, snowy weather.

    I think thorogood makes slip on waterproof boots. Most are made in America.

    Slipons work for some people but not for all. The last time I thought about getting some the guy in the shoe store told me just about what I already knew. The shape of my foot makes a slipon out of the question. In order to get something that I can slip on, by the time it is on then it is too loose. Therefore, I still wear boots that tie. In winter I almost always wear something that can work for a little while at least to keep my feet from freezing that that is difficult to do. The last pair of boots I got have 2000 grams of thinsulate but I've found that thinsulate is one of the worst insalations on the market. And now that you can no longer buy real felts, it is a problem getting good winter boots.

    I'd agree that Thinsulate doesn't live up to the hype.

    I should have added my slipons are really muck boots, rated for winter. They don't seem too loose.
    I do like laced boots though. I just was gifted a pair of redwing irish setters, not made in the USA and they are pretty comfy and $$..
    I'll second thorogood, never had a pair but they are very similar to my justins.

    I have a pair of low slip ons made by Duluth, $150 IIRC, happy with them. I also have a pair of Muck boots they are super comfortable just a little bulkier.

    I have seen MUCK boots here, they are pull on and some have insulation, and shorter styles too.

    these are the ones I have they appeared to be more durable to me when looking at them. We have a local Duluth stores I was able to check them out side by side.
    The ones above looked "dressier" more out and about as opposed to working.

    I’m not sure they make them anymore. I lived in my Sorel Chieftans for years. Cutting, ice fishing, shoveling, etc. I have Kerbelers knock offs now, and they’re pretty good too.
    They are lace ups, but you don’t have to if your just going across the yard to dump ash or other.
    They’re my winter slippers.
