    First fire! IMG_20191010_44988.jpg
Only reason we've waited this long was because we've been replacing the gaskets, by trial and error. Finally got it right today. Worth it! Stove is burning beautifully.

3 fires already?? I haven't even thought of lighting one yet. Is your house shaded? We get so much solar gain during the day that it's way too warm inside for a fire.

It's looking like this weekend will be go time though. Forecast low of 39* Saturday night so that means we may have frost out here in the boonies.

Still no fires here. I did bring in a wheelbarrow load of wood last night and covered around half my stacks with the rubber roofing my neighbor gave me. 39 outside.

Ocean storm with no solar gain here. Could have/would have had a fire last night or AM and tonight but the stove is broken and given its age will likely stay that way.

First fire tonight. Damp and will drop below freezing tonight, but just a test fire for tomorrow as it won't get out of 30's all tomorrow.

Scraps of wood and got the draft going right away so no smoke in the house. Yay me! :)

Tomorrow is supposed to be rain in the evening and cool down a little. I think I might leave early a few mins from work to get a fire going. It should already be warm enough with the extra company but a fire sure does feel good after work.

We live at about 2000 ft. elevation.....somewhat shaded.
When i say fire....thats about 4-5 small pieces n done....also installed a block off plate n i wanted to make sure the small amount of adhesive i used to hold the roxwool in place while setting the plate in place would be burned off....

We have a 91% efficient oil boiler that also makes our hot water (tank on a zone-makes for pretty cheap hot water) and with oil at $2.25/gallon there's no urgency beyond the preference for the wood heat warmth.
I was considering a 17VL but apparently they are out of stock/production and might not make the EPA 2020 class.
    So, analysis paralysis it is.

Getting closer and closer, lows dipping into the mid-upper 40's over the next few days. Got the insert cleaned, inspected, and liner swept 2 weeks ago. Wood shed is loaded up as well as the front porch. Plan on pulling the blower apart to clean and oil this weekend. Also checking all fire alarms and our annual safety meeting and am ready to rock.

What do you have.. I have never seen any oil furnace with efficiency ratings over 87%.

    Good morning Dennis,
What temperature are you running the house at?
Cindy has been through so much lately, she is cold most of the time, that is until I make sure the stove is running. That keeps her happy. She still has a wound on her leg and has to be very careful about her diabetes.

House temperature varies a lot this time of the year. Around 80 once we're burning full time. Ha! Just looked and it is 79 now.
