Interesting... Mustard Remains Americans’ Favorite Hot Dog Topping, But Ketchup Shows Surprising Popularity, New Survey Data Shows | NHDSC Although I see some oddities like the North East liking kraut on their dogs?? It's this because they don't have the German sausage masters like we have in the upper Midwest, and confuse a hot dog for a brat???
No,Kraut is for bratwurst. Keep the kraut off the hot dogs. Ketchup and hot dogs are meant for each other.
In my twisted mind, chili & ketchup are very different. Happyness is having leftover chili in the fridg at the same time as hot dogs.
Since you are from Ohio, have you tried Ben's Mustard? It is my favorite and a little hard to find. I buy several jars when I find it. No ketchup on my dogs.
Here in southwestern NY, the German influence isn't seen nearly as prevalent as in central PA, but it still exists. Both parents were born & raised in Pa, siblings & I are first gen NY'ers Polish & Italian & Irish seen mostly here. But, as Scotty Overkill can surely attest, German heritage is alive & well in the northeast. Predominantly German & Italian family heritage, with enough other influences to make me a 100% American mutt.
Favorite sweet/spicy mustard is this one and can be hard to find near home, so same here buying several jars when I find it
OK this is new; I just came from a friends house and mentioned about this thread to him because his kids "LOVE" hotdogs on the grill. He put's "Heinz 57" on his and the kids mostly eat Guldens spicy mustard. Might have to try the Heinz 57 now...
Having meatloaf tonight. 1/2 sausage & 1/2 hamburger, plus onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, bread crumb, egg. Know what else I'll put on it??
My wife puts some ketchup on the meatloaf while it's cooking, to glaze it. However, I eat the meat loaf with BBQ sauce. Now ketchup on eggs???? Yuck!
