    Two stacks added for winter. Just trying to learn. Still having trouble with telling what kind of wood i have . Anyone have a easy way to tell oak vs maple vs whatever? Just trying to learn Bobby maple wants to gain knowledge!!!!

    Looks like mostly maple. Sugar and/or Norway variety. LOVE the fact that it was hand split too!:axe:AWHNR!

    Check out this thread for a few pointers. Tree ID tips for newbie's

    Also I usually like to tell folks to ask someone in your area as there are different trees in different areas and sometimes even the same type can look a bit different in a different area. Learn maybe 2 or 3 of the most popular ones. Next year learn 2 or 3 more, etc, etc. At least that is how I did it. I'm still not as good as many but I know most of the trees in our area at least and most of them on our place.
