Just over 36hrs ago it was in the 90s.....woke up this am to 34°!! Lit it up a week earlier than usual, but hey, what's a firewood guy to do?? Happy and SAFE burning this season, everyone! Be sure to check your stove/flue/heating system over before firing up!
We've had multiple morning fires so far. Small fires. Just enough to warm the house. Gaskets we're checked. Cat was cleaned. Stack was brushed down a month ago. Good to go. As Scotty Overkill says, stay safe!
Just started another small one (had the stove all set last night but waited until this morning to light it up). 2-2.5" Ash splits in Lincoln log formation. Let the hibernating begin.
MikeInMa, papadave good to see you guys! I've been busy, tryna get more time to spend here.......looking forward to the season!
No fire yet for us. Our semi tropical plants are still outside and happy. Hibiscus and Jasmine. Those will come in at the end of this week though as it's supposed to get down to the upper 30's by Friday. I need to get up on the roof and sweep the SS liner and check/ clean the cap. I need to replace the door gasket after having to crimp it to make a better seal toward the end of last season, but it'll pass for a few fires until then while the stove isn't in 24/7 mode.
No fire here yet brother but yours keeps the thought for now. This week I plan was to drop the cat out, sweep the liner and have a good look over. I did clean our n g boiler and make sure it is ready. I usually like to run it for the first couple cold days just to make sure. Stove can handle most of the load until we get really cold.
Had 2 fires, one last night and one the night before since we got down to the mid 20s. Sustained the temps through the night!
Wife caved to old man winter last night. We had our first. Every window in the house open! The shoulder of shoulder season is upon us.
Genoa City,Wi. Few miles north of Illinois. Not usually quite that cold this time of year. What I saw on the radar for the weekend Erik B might see some snow flakes...
Yes Canadian border VT we need to bring that post up that we accentuate every year.....never hurts to put the reminder out there.
Had a few fires already and it appears that most have by now. Next week no doubt will find many with fires going. Good. It will make the hunting better.
